Under the category of ``better late than never,'' since I believe I promised this to you guys before the Great Lakers Experiment of '07, here's the list of impending UFAs and RFAs for the summer, as provided by the fine folks at The Hockey News. Anyone want to come up with a summer wish list for the Kings? To help, I'll provide THIS link to a website that seems to do a great job of listing every player's salary, by team, so you can get an idea of where the Kings stand and what's realistic as far as potential signings. Thanks so much Rich for the great blog. The Kings need to build up (and make younger) the D, so looking at Hannan (SJ) or Rafalski (NJ) might be a good idea. And while we're wishing, we wish for Cloutier to somehow go away.

Nick said:

i'd like to get Backstrom from Minny, Drury from Buffalo, and some defenseman (Hannan and Rafalski both sound good. Brad Stuart seems more likely, somehow).

Sign Tom Preissing, and let one of are Monarchs D-men step up(Peter Harrold or Richard Petiot).Hopefully Dean and Crow keep Brian Boyle as a foward and someone show him how to fight. Sign Taylor Pyatt to play with Kopi and Brown. Negative thoughts produce negative energy, Cloutier is our goalie for next season so lets encourage him to step up and shut up all the haters.

We most need help on the back end. I say Stuart and Giguere, stick Cloutier in the minors so that his salary doesn't count against the cap. If he finally recovers and puts up great numbers, recall him and hope another team claims in on re-entry waivers. ;-)

NO DUCKS IN KINGS JERSEYS!!!
FU*K GIGUERE! Example:TVERDOVSKY
We don't need a goalie that bad. Labarbera will step up because he knows it's his job to lose.

Kevin said:

I say sign Stuart, Rafalski and Gomez, or (failing Gomez), sign Drury. Bring up some of the young guys on D and to fill out the lines. Re-sign Miller and Lundmark along with Weaver for depth. Try to sign Backstrom from Minn. and bring up Labs as the back-up.

drop miller, burke, modry, and some other minor characters

sign backstrom, stuart, hannan, and possibly drury. but if the cap space is way too tight (and it may very well be) go with a lesser scorer like sykora

id prefer not to drop garon, since backstrom hasnt really taken on a complete season himself before. but if letting him go means we have room to get drury, then do it.

lababera comes up in that instance, of course

Atlanta has some great free agents that would fit in nicely with the Kings.
#1 Greg de Vries - a great Norstrom replacement.
#2 Andy Sutton - without great goaltending, the Kings need some shutdown defense. Bring in this giant.
#3 Keith Tkachuk - He can show Brown how to play power forward. Would be a perfect fit up front.
