Kings sign two players

| | Comments (17) |

We've been talking about Erik Ersberg and Vladimir Dravecky for so long that I almost forgot the Kings hadn't actually signed them. Well, they did today, with both guys getting entry-level deals. Ersberg, because of his age (25), only gets a one-year deal. I'll be interested to see what happens with him in training camp.

I'll attach the press releases below:

KINGS SIGN PROSPECT VLADIMIR DRAVECKY

TO A MULTI-YEAR CONTRACT

LOS ANGELES – The Los Angeles Kings have signed right wing Vladimir Dravecky to a multi-year entry-level contract, Kings President/General Manager Dean Lombardi announced today.

Dravecky, 21, played in 52 games with HC Kosice of the Slovak Extraliga this past season and had 23 points (9-14=23), a plus-26 rating and 16 penalty minutes. He also played in 11 playoff games with HC Kosice and had eight points (5-3=8), a plus-six rating and two penalty minutes, and he played in one game with HKm Humenne of the Slovak First League and had three points (2-1=3), a plus-three rating and two penalty minutes.

The 5-10, 185 pound native of Kosice, Slovakia, also played with two different clubs in 2005-06. He played in 54 regular season games with HC Kosice and had 26 points (8-18=26), a plus-25 rating and 18 penalty minutes, and in eight playoff games with HC Kosice he had one point (a goal) and eight penalty minutes. In two games with HKm Humenne, he had four points (1-3=4), a plus-six rating and zero penalty minutes.

In 2004-05, Dravecky played in 51 games with HC Kosice and had 11 points (5-6=11), a plus-two rating and eight penalty minutes. He also played in 43 games with HC Kosice in 2003-04 and had four points (1-3=4) and four penalty minutes.

Training camp just got that much more interesting. Good news. Thanks Rich.

Rich, what do you mean by being interested in what happens in Kings TC? You mean with the goaltending situation? Essentially carring three "ready" goaltenders and a couple of top goaltending prospects?

Any word about Ryan McGinnis, don't the Kings need to sign him by tomarrow?

Rich Hammond said:

Yes, the deadline for McGinnis is tomorrow, and the Marek deadline is two weeks from tomorrow. The Kings are still working on it, but obviously the timing is tight. Joe Ryan is another guy whose deadline is tomorrow.

And yes, that's exactly what I meant about training camp. The Kings are now set to carry three goalies into the start of the season, if that's what they decide to do.

By the way, Jim Fox is now back to the clean-shaved look...

Maybe now that Foxy has shaved off his playoff beard the Ducks will start losing!

Good news on the signings. Hopefully these guys will come out for prospects camp this summer so we can take a look.

With all the young guys we've signed recently, training camp is going to be fun to watch! Thanks, Rich!!

Now if only Foxy could go back to his old hairdo...

Are you sure Joe Ryan has to be done tomorrow? Ryan (and Bud Holoway) are 2006 draftees and I could be wrong but I thought the CBA says that a junior player has to be *tendered* (not necessesarily accepted) an offer by 1 June of the year after they are drafted - its when the clock ticks to the second year after drafting that if not signed they loose the rights to the player.

IF/when Cloutier flounders again this season, would management be confortable going with Lababs and Ersberg in LA? Is the contract a 2-way contract?

Rich,

Just want to say that his blog is really outstanding and as a life long Kings fan, I really appreciate the time you put into this considering your busy schedule.

We have seen the Ducks have success at signing undrafted players like McDonald and Penner, so hopefully these two guys along with Purcell will have similar impact for the Kings.

Can you ask Lombardi this question -

What kind of expectations do you have for Erik Ersberg and what kind of potential do you think he has?

Thanks as always, Rich.

Rich, any word on Joe Ryan?

Good work as always Rich!

When you get a chance, can you post some info on what players the Kings might be interested in as free agents, and/or possible trade scenarios for us die-hards to be thinking about during the offseason?

Thanks again!

I think that most Kings fans would like to know what next years Kings jerseys will look like.

Will they be changing the logo/colors/etc?

Have you heard anything Rich?

I would really appreciate it if you could answer this question Rich because I think that most Kings fans would like to know.

Seems as though McGinnis has been removed from the lakings.com "pipeline" page, despite no official announcement. But this is the page that still has Fedorov, Lyubushin, Shefer, etc on the page despite the official announcement that they are no longer Kings property.

Inside info, or further shody work from the Kings website?

Is it just me or is anyone else rooting for the Ducks to lose in the Stanley Cup?

I just can't stand the idea of a team not named the Kings winning the first Stanley Cup for Southern Calfornia.
