Parse = not yet

| | Comments (8) |

I'm told that the Kings cannot sign Scott Parse until July 1. Why? Still not 100 percent sure, but I'll try to get a definitive answer on that. I know there were some rumblings today that a contract got signed. That will take another few weeks, but it's safe to say that things are looking good for Parse and the Kings.

Also, I got it confirmed that the uniform color and logo won't change next season. I've yet to see what they will look like exactly, but if you saw the All-Star Game, you have some idea.

It doesn't make any sense not to sign Parse. He had 5 more goals than Boyle and 10 more points than Purcell and the Kings signed them. The guy was a Hobey Baker candidate the last couple years. I hope they get it done. Sounds promising. Thanks for the update Rich.

Love the colors, love the crown, so I'm glad those are staying. I hope they do something nice with the new jerseys.

I think he'll push for a roster spot this fall. Could be a good 3rd line winger with PP abilities. Makes for an interesting camp.

What's the projection for Parse? Was he drafted by the Kings?

Parse was a 6th round draft choice of the Kings in 2004. He's not terribly big, but has shown an offensive upside in his four collegiate seasons.

Hard to imagine him making the leap to the NHL with little AHL experience behind him, but if he competes for a spot with a bunch of the other wannabees, I suppose anything is possible.

Hey Rich. Just wondering if you had or will make it to the mini training camps at tsc?

Maybe his contract with Grand Rapids does not end until July 1st? Anyone know why he only played 10 games this season?

Parse reportedly has outstanding hockey sense, smarts and versatility to go with his offensive skills.

He'll likely need a season or so in the AHL, but I think he'll be in the NHL before too long, probably as a 3rd-liner with some extra time on the PK and possibly even PP.

I'd be surprised if he isn't at least as good as say, Erik Belanger.

And I have a feeling he will be somewhat better than Belanger overall.

Possibly, just possibly, he could be MUCH better than Belanger.
