« Lombardi's quotes | Main | Stuart to Kings »

Quiet day

Things have calmed down a bit, thankfully, after a couple crazy days. I'm told that the Kings are still shopping around for a defenseman, but I don't get the sense that they MUST get one. It's highly doubtful that it's going to be Stuart and it's certainly not going to be Souray. The Souray thing represents everything that's wrong with Web site rumor-mongering. For days, the Kings were talked about as ``leaders'' for Souray. The Kings aren't interested in Souray and never have been, unless he wanted to sign some sort of one-year, bargain-basement deal, and that's not going to happen.

I've asked about the prospects camp, and it seems as though the Kings are still finalizing details. I'm told that the information will be released Thursday. It's looking like a Monday start, at least for on-ice activities.

thanks again, hey Rich , can you post the times for next weeks camps. I would really like to make it up there for a few of those days.....
Rich , do the KINGS have the cap space to sign Stuart really ? and get Cammy signed and upgrade the goalie position ?

it's got to be close w/o adding Stuart..

Visnovsky
Blake
Johnson
Preissing
Modry
Tverdovsky
Dallman
Harrold
Petiot
Piskula
Hersley
Buckley
Likens(apparently under contract with the Monarchs for next season)
Boyle(considering the Kings have a bunch of young forwards for Manchester, and possibly Parse any day now, I'm guessing they're going to give Boyle at D a shot)

That's 14 defensemen. Any word on what Tverdovsky's situation is? He was the 8th defenseman last season, and helped Manchester go deep in the playoffs. Is he going to be bought out? Are the Kings going to pull a Dan McGillis with him and keep him in Manchester all year?

As soon as I get the schedule/roster for the camp, I'll post it.

As for Tverdovsky, last I heard was that maybe he would decide (cough, cough) to sign with a team overseas. If not, I don't know what will happen. If you read Lombardi's comments yesterday, Manchester is a very important development tool for him, not so much a place to dump players. So I'm not sure what they would do.

Rich... you've avoided the question... time to fess up!!!

WHO WAS THE D-MAN YOU WERE TALKING ABOUT????

It wasn't Modry.

It wasn't Preissing.

WHO WAS IT?

Rich Hammond said:

Actually, I did answer the question, four days ago in a comment. I wrote this: ``If you go back, the ``recent D-man'' was not a reference to this summer. And if you read some of the stuff from Dean's ``TamperFest '07'' the other night, the player's name came up and Dean talked about him.''

Jon said:

I know we need d-men but I would like to see Boyle be a 3rd line center. I would think Dean would like that look too with Kopi,Handzus, and Boyle down the middle. Does anybody know if they are going to teach Boyle how to fight? Im not saying for him to become are enforcer but it would be nice to see him fight every once and a while.

Brad Stuart to Kings per TSN. 1 year, $3.5 million. Pretty reasonable.

We signed Brad Stuart!

I would also like to thank you for all the hard work you have put into keeping us updated with great info from DL. I see Garon has signed with Edmonton and Curtis sanford with Vancouver ........ Pleaseeeeeee Rich, tell me he's not going to go after Emery, I'd rather have Stu Nahan then Emery. Is Burke gone or is he still ours?? Great stop gap when times got really tuff for the Kings last season.

Rich, there goes your hope of an early start on the 4th of July break.

Nice try!

We're all anxiously awaiting what's the spin on the fact that it's only a one year deal!
