Zeiler's contract
John Zeiler signed a four-year contract today. The first year is a two-way contract and he would make $525,000 at the NHL level. The second year is worth $550,000 and the third and fourth years are worth $600,000 each. So potentially it's a four-year, $2.275-million contract.

Thank you for your great info!
sounds reasonable... now just holding out on cammo news! thanks for the update.
That's a pretty good deal. I enjoyed watching Zeiler play, and i'm glad he'll be here for quite a while.
Thanks for the info Rich, hope you're enjoying your vacation!
Glad to see Zeiler locked up. He brings really good energy, and can hit as hard as Brown. I would like to see Cammi locked up long term but it sounds like DL and Cammi are not seeing eye to eye on some things. Any idea what the problem could be? Thanks Rich.
Like the way Zeiler plays...fiesty and fierce...Lock up Cammy!...that completes everything in my mind!
Thank you Rich! Now go back to sipping from your tall drink with little straw hats!
Rich keep to your vacation, you need to take a true vacation and leave work at work; not take work with you. Relax we will be fine, just don't be gone for more than a few weeks jk.
I just read the Hockey Buzz and Ek is talking that the Kings are going after Raycroft and/or Emery if the Sens walk away after arbitration. DL if you read this blog, make a trade for Holmqvist with Tampa, we don't need another seive or a guy who can hardly skate or make sound decisions once he's out of the crease.
No, not Emery!
Boy for awhile I thought I was the only one who thought Emery isn't an NHL goaltender, granted he has a very quick glove but the talent level stops right there. I've seen many, great NHL goalies and right now in the NHL you'd only need one hand to count all of them and maybe not use all four fingers and a thumb.
Good signing. He should bring some good energy to the checking units.
Sorry Ron, but no Zeiler CANNOT hit as hard as Brown.
Honestly, what does everyone see in Zeiler? From what I saw last year he's a decent sized player with poor skating abilities, and nothing tangible to contribute to the team.
It seems we have a whole AHL team full of guys on the brink of breaking through to the next level, and Zeiler is just stopping someone with real potential from breaking through.
Honestly, what does everyone see in Zeiler?
RickyS, I completely agree. It seemed like his only contribution was bringing energy to a team that couldn't string together wins. But once the team gets rolling by winning games, I doubt we'll need a guy like Zeiler to just skate around hitting people.
" I doubt we'll need a guy like Zeiler to just skate around hitting people."
Anyone that knows hockey, knows that you will ALWAYS need a guy that goes around hitting people. They're called enforcers, and they help protect your best players on the ice. Wayne Gretzky had Marty Mcsorley while with the Kings, and never got messed with. Look at what happend to Allison and Deadmarsh, they had no one to protect them, and ended up with concussions.
Emery just resigned with the Senators - $3.1 M per year, I think for three years.
The Kings have always had a player of this stature, he is a needed piece of the puzzle. How quickly you forget the recent bangers and energy guys, Avery, Lappy, Physco, Kozak, every team has that guy and now we have two, DB and Zoom-Zoom.

I think it's hilarious that a guy like Zeiler is being called an enforcer.
He really has never shown me more than having trouble stopping, and fumbling into people. Has he ever dropped the gloves to protect a teammate? That's a real enforcer. We had one.. the best in the game in fact, and let him go.
We miss you George
All the misguided Zeiler as an enforcer comments aside...did someone just seriously post that "Big George" is the best enforcer in the game?
Is LGK in the house?
I totally agree with the fans who say that Zoom-Zoom is not an Enforcer, BUT he does bring energy just like Donnie Kozak use too. Eddie Shack was an energy guy also, and he could even spell G-O-A-L, ask the Toronto Maple Leafs.
Sorry Ricky, but Georgie can't fight. Ivanans is a better fighter, that is if and when he fights.
I think it's hilarious that a guy like Zeiler is being called an enforcer.
Once again, completely agree with RickyS. Zeiler is not an enforcer, he's an energy-line guy. Sure, every team needs one, but Zeiler? C'mon there are plenty of other guys in the league who would be a better fit with the team. Although Avery and McSorley were enforcers on the team they also managed to put up points, which is something Zeiler can barely do.
