Cammalleri quote

Here’s more praise for Jonathan Bernier, from assistant captain Michael Cammalleri. Cammalleri was asked about Bernier’s performance and how he could relate it to his own first NHL game.

“I think we’re all really excited about the way he played. As a team, to get goaltending like that… Just with talking with a couple of the guys after the game, you kind of recap the game and you discuss what went well, and Armstrong says to me, `How about the goalie?’ That’s the difference. He made saves that could have easily gone in the net. So, a good game by him.

“As far as when you come in, in your first year… I was 20. He’s 19. It was surreal for me. I barely remember those first few games. It was so exciting. It’s a dream come true and I’m sure he’s going through a little bit of the same. After the game, I went over to congratulate him on playing so well and he kind of looked at me like he didn’t know where he was, but he looked pretty comfortable when the game was on, that’s for sure.”

Bernier looked good! He’s definitely ready to stay up here even if we only gets 30-40 games out of him it will be better preparation and training than he can get in juniors.

Nagy & Handzus looked good together-obviously they’ve got some chemistry. Sully was hustling too. All around pretty good. Can’t wait to see how Barb handles the challenge tomorrow!

MA-Fleury looked great the first game too. I still don’t buy it’s great for his development to keep him up here. There’s far too much pressure on his shoulders and there isn’t a certifiable 1A goaltender in our rankings. Had we had a goaltender that we knew was 1A, I think itwould be a much safer gamble. But as of right now, i don’t see what benefits we get out of getting a playoff seeding in risk of destroying our one decent goaltending prospect since the inception of the Kings into the NHL.

As of now the the Kings are the number 1 team in the league, lets keep it that way. I hope the Kings have learned from past mistakes and go with who’s hot. The Ducks of Anaheim are a bunch of goons and we’re on to them. Let’s get the W tomorrow,

Well Blake already said he is too good to go back to juniors and HE IS the team Captain. What is the harm of platooning him and either Labarbara or Aubin?

It’s an 82 game season and as far as I am concerned he should have the opportunity to stay with the big club and get 25-35 starts, depending on how well the other guys play.

Ideally Labarbera will accept the challenge and have a good season. If not Cloutier will get a chance to clear waivers after finding his game in the minors.
