Bernier quotes
Here's what Jonathan Bernier had to say during a quick postgame TV interview...
``I see the puck well, but I have to give credit to the guys. They played hard and they never gave up and we wanted to have a great start to this season and we did, so it's great.''
(You didn't seem to get too rattled by the lighting problem early...)
It's one of those things that happens, so you just have to keep your focus and that's what I tried to do.
(What's the biggest thing, making the adjustment to the NHL?)
For sure, the timing. It took a couple weeks but our defense (does) such a great job so it makes the job easier.

It's early, yes. But clearly this kid is the real deal. Did everyone see how much this kid was smiling? Like, "is that all you got?" Reminded me of Roy. At 19, his toughest challenge will be growing up in the limelight, not on the ice.
It's probably a good thing he's in LA then. ;-)
Great game! Nice start. OK, lets do this thing. You really don't hear much about defenseman. How did Jack Johnson play?
mike
Johnson seemed to be a little off at the beginning, but it seemed to click for him after he was banging around with Parros during one shift. There was another shift when Johnson carried the puck through the neutral zone and he kind of looked around and thought, ``Where are you guys?'' There will be a transition period for him, even though he played a little last season.
I have been reading the articles on this site for a few weeks now and let me tell you this site is godsent. Coming from Central Canada I get zero coverage of the Kings. I usually have to wait till TSN does their coverage of the Kings before I find anything of depth out, and I have to stomach the coverage of the Leafs before that so it is basically torture.
Thanks Rich,
I love this site!!!
I say give the kid the start tomorrow as well. It's only the 2nd game and they have 5 days off after tomorrow's game.
How could you not give him the start? He's earned it. Plus CBC announcers were saying that the Kings players feel very confident playing in front of him.
Great start for the 19-yr old and for the team! Now let's make it 2-0 tomorrow
Thanks Rich!
Thanks for the Jack Johnson update. The Kings defense is the key.
