Cammalleri 9/25 postgame

Here's the interview with Michael Cammalleri, as conducted by the one and only Daryl Evans...

(It was a great atmosphere out there...)

Yeah, I think that's what everybody wanted. It was exciting and I hope the fans here had a lot of fun with it. We were trying to do a lot of things to prepare for the season, so we tried to do some of those things.

(Big difference, obviously, playing on the larger ice surface. Can you talk about the adjustments you have to make?)

Yeah, a little more tired. It's definitely different. As far as adjustments, there's just a lot more time with the puck and it's a little different. You want to protect your house, your net, defensively and you don't want to get sucked out into the areas where you're pretty far from your net on the boards. Other than that, you try to still keep it between the dots, that's the main idea.

(The home team put you on your heels, but it seemed like once you settled down you got it going offensively)

Good for them. Kudos to them. They came out strong and played well in front of their home crowd. I think that was great. We were able to come back and answer, which is also nice for us.

(In your line, with Kopitar and Brown, there seems to be some good chemistry and a lot of chances created)

Yeah, we're trying to really talk a lot and build as much chemistry as we can. We're really trying to pass on ideas to each other and play off each other's strengths. It helps so much when you do that and you kind of get that inate sixth sense with each other, where you know where each other are and you know where the guy wants the puck and you know what he likes. It really helps you do a lot of things.

(You've gone though Colorado and Las Vegas and now here. How special is it for the team to pull together like this?)

It's interesting. This is definitely a bonding experience. With the flight and everything, you get to know guys. It always helps. There's something about the camaraderie in sports when you're on a team. The closer you are with your teammates, the more of a personal attachment you have, the harder you want to play for each other and the more you want to do for one another. So I think that always helps. If anything, that's what we're taking out of this trip.

(You saw some familiar faces...your family is in town)

That's great. They've been extremely supportive, my whole career. There's always lots of love coming from them. Their love is all with the Kings now, so it's great that they made a little vacation out of it. I'm fortunate to have them here.
