Ducks preview
Here's my notebook that ran in the paper today.
This quote from Blake was supposed to run as the last paragraph in the first note but was cut by editors:
``If you look at the Ducks and the way they were built with young players, we’re in that similar mold but maybe a couple years behind that,’’ Blake said. ``We want to get to that level too.’’

Jill Painter joined the Daily News in 2000 and during the last eight years she's covered the Dodgers, Cal State Northridge, UCLA, Kings, golf and everything in between. Even though she's from Colorado, she still freezes in the Staples Center press box but always manages to thaw her fingers in time to make deadline. E-mail Jill at

There we go Matt, way to put in some work. Keep it up pal.
Thanks Matt for the coverage as well. Also, welcome to the blog.
I read your article about the Kings and the Ducks in today's Daily News, and I was a little dissapointed in the tone of the article. To me it sounded like you were a Duck Fan waving your finger in the face of all Kings Fans. I recall you writing something like the Kings organization has been around for a while and has never won the cup, but the Ducks have only been in the league for 13 years or so, and have a cup under their belt. We know that the Ducks have achieved more than the Kings since their establishment in the league, but we don't go flying it on a banner...or publishing it in a paper that Ducks Fans read also. I'm sure you were influenced by some other factor (like an editor), but I just felt that you slapped the Kings' organization and all the Kings fans in the face.
Thank you for your efforts, though...I just wanted to tell you how I felt. I look forward to the work you have done today. Thank you for helping keep us posted and keep this blog alive.
Thanks.
