RICH HAMMOND

Rich Hammond has covered the Kings, on a full-time or part-time basis, since the 2000-01 season. He was the beat writer for the entire John Torchetti era and has witnessed Bob Miller singing country music in a Nashville honky-tonk bar. A native of Los Angeles, Rich has worked at the Daily News since 1999 and also serves as the paper's deputy sports editor.

Rich, I think that a lot of us would be interested in hearing from the new guys (Handzus, Preissing, Nagy, Stuart, Calder) why they chose the Kings. I admit that, at least in the case of Handzus and Preissing, I'm rather amazed that they would sign with a team that is one of the worst in the league. Perhaps, if you get further chances to interview these new guys, you might think to ask each of them that question. Thanks!

With regard to the hair, it's better short - it won't be a distraction. Now he looks like a hockey player rather than someone from the NFL.

Can't wait to see Michal and the rest of the new Kings in a real game . . .
