sweeet
Rich, Is Lombardi starting to feel some heat from ownership.
Signing Cloutier & McCauley (both with injuries) to big contracts without either of them playing a single game for the team seems quite expensive.
That's alot of salary cap money being thrown way for nothing (that could have been put to better use).
The money could have been used to acquire a seasoned veteran at the trade deadline if the kings are contending for the playoff spot.
Furthermore, that money belongs to ownership, Not Lombardi.
In my opinion, I don't think ownership cares if the guy in the minors is making 3 times more than the guy in LA. As long as the team on the ice wins, attracts fans, and stops losing money at the gate, I don't think they care how DL allocates his preset budget. With the cap, it's not like he can go into the office and ask for another $4million to spend.
Didn't the Kings televise the game out of Las Wages? I wonder why not this year??
Yes, it's a waste of money. But Lombardi has done more right than he has wrong. This team is clearly headed in the right direction...nobody his perfect, look around the league.
Anthony, I really don't think so. No GM is ever going to bat 1.000. Lombardi really flubbed a couple, but he's been making so many moves over the last two years that a couple were bound to backfire.
Now, if in two years he's making bad choices and the team isn't winning, it might be a different story. But not now.
The Frozen Fury game hasn't been televised for a lot of years now. It was only televised once.
