New mascot

The Kings will introduce a new mascot tomorrow on LAKings.com. Bailey, a lion, will make his arena debut Saturday during the Colorado game in Vegas. Bailey was named in honor of Garnet ``Ace'' Bailey, who served as the Kings' director of pro scouting for seven years and had a long NHL playing career before that. He will wear No. 72, apparently for the average temperature in Los Angeles.

I wonder if that means a player cannot wear 72. That would be a funny conversation.

"You cannot wear 72 because its the mascot's number."

"waaaaahh?????"

Normally I am against mascots as I think they are usually junky promotional stuff but this one makes sense. Atleast there is a reason this time and not like Kingston who was created for who knows what reason.

RIP Kingston may you lay peacefully under the Forum.

I sure hope he doesn't look like Kingston, the white lion with herpes, or whatever those black splotches were. Yuck! And what about those Kings Ice Girls we were supposed to be getting?

A lion makes sense, but I can't say I see the need for a mascot.

And, in a cost cutting measure, they've also announced that John Zeiler will be Bailey on nights when he is a healthy scratch... On those nights, Bailey will wear 73.

Why can't Modry be our mascot? He is enough of a circus without a costume, and he can't hurt us on the ice.

I would have loved to have seen the Burger King guy as the mascot.
