GO KINGS!!
Who can answer this when the goaltending situation is a mess? The overall team is much improved from last year, but the goaltending position is a huge question mark. Unless Bernier is the savior, I'm not encouraged with Labarbera or Aubin as the starters.
Kopitar will be the leading scorer and hopefully, the goalie with the most starts is a player that we haven't traded for yet.
Kings will finish 10th in the conference. I'd like to think we could sneak into the playoffs, but the goaltending is too out of focus and there are just too many so-so veterans new to the team.
Kopitar will lead in scoring.
Goaltending is anyone's guess, but I'll go with Bernier.
If the current Roster plays the whole season:
6th place
Kopitar with 100 pts (30G, 70A)
Aubin
If there are a bunch injuries:
13th
Kopitar with 90 pts
Burke
6th
Kopitar 90pts
Bernier
Wow, a lot of upbeat people around here.
I say finish 10-11th in the conference.
Cammy will lead the scoring, but with Kopitar right behind him.
I'll go with Bernier and if not him, someone who we haven't traded for yet.
9th place, thanks to our goaltending issues...
kopitar (27-61-88)...
labarbera.
1) Kings will finish 7th in the conference
2) Kopitar will lead the Kings in points
3) LaBarbera will have the most starts and establish himself as a legit #1 in the NHL.
Mind says 10th Place, Heart says 7th.
Cammy, Kopitar with more points though
J Labs, with about 48 starts
10th, though I think if one goalie steps up we can find a playoff spot.
Kopitar will lead the team in points, Cammy in goals
Labarbera will get a majority of the starts.
12th
Kopitar
LaBarbera
6th
Squid
Cloutier!!!!
9th
Kopitar with 8-0something
Labs and Bernier. Toss up who actually ends up with more starts.
Prediction for BIZZARO-Kings:
1st in Conference
Modry (22G, 84PTS)
Fukufuji (who is the front runner for the Vezzina Trophy, until Aki Berg pulls a "Rick Ankiel:" switches position from Defense to Goalie while in the AHL, Stands on his head from January through June 2008, and leads the Maple Leafs to their first cup in 40 years)
10th place
Cammy 85 points
Cloutier 44 games
1) Kings will finish 7th in the conference (close race at the finish with less than 5 points difference seperating 7th from 10th place)
2) Kopitar will lead the Kings in points
3) LaBarbera will get most starts
8-9th place
Agree with most, Kopi leading in points, Cammi in goals.
Goalie.....Potvin?
8th
Kopitar
Whomever Deano ends up getting off the market
"Inside the Kings with Rich Hammond and Matthew Kredell"
Sorry, I just noticed that.
7th place
Squidward w/ 95pts.
Kelly Hrudey with 40??
I'm with CBGB on Cloutier but lets say 9th place finish and Kopitar with 85 points.
6th
Cammy
Bernier
8th
Cammalleri
LaBarbera (followed by Aubin)
...and Cloutier will never play for the Kings again. If he plays well enough that they want him, he'll get picked up by somebody else for half price before he clears reverse waivers. If he doesn't play well then why would they recall him?
8th
Kopi
Berns
3rd round of Playoffs
Fro most goals
Cammi most points
Bernier
I expect (and will enjoy) another log-jam from 5th to 10th at the end of the year. Honestly, I think the question should be, will the Kings be a part of that log-jam. I think they will. Whether that means landing at #5 or #10, it's impossible to predict meaningfully. But I think they will be there. Wishful thinking has me guess they will be #7 and play Anaheim in the first round.
Kopitar will lead in points. Brown might give him a run for his money, if he collects assists from Kopitar and Cammy all year.
In goal? Bernier. 50 games.
Also, I predict the Kings' final point total will equal the number of goals this year by the following five players: Nagy, Handzus, O'Sullivan, Calder and Murray. i.e., if the three veterans have career years (25 goals apiece) and the rookies get 20 and 10 each, that's 105 points. If they crap out (15 goals apiece for the veterans, 10 and 5 for the rookies) that's 60 points.
Short version, if those guys are good, the team will be good. If they suck, look out below.
Finish: 7th
Points: Kopitar with 90
Most starts: Bernier. I think he's here to stay.
9th-10th
Cammy in the 90's
Aubin
7th
Cammi (followed closely by losANZEles)
Bernier - I hope.
Also, agree with above, Clouts is finished with the Kings - he'll never clear waivers if he's actually playing well enough at Manchester to be brought up which I sincerely doubt will happen. Aubin and Lababs just don't have what it takes to make the Kings (or any other team outside the AHL) the quality tandem it takes to compete in the NHL. Honestly I've been extremely disappointed with LaBabs play, I really thought he'd have a breakout pre-season and claim the #1 job. So much for wishful thinking. We either trade up or let the kid start. Personally I say let the kid have the job, he's earned it, the others haven't been even close.
GO KINGS!
-Kings will finish 6th
-Kopitar with 85 points
-Kings trade Camellarri for Kippersoff at the trade deadline when the Flames tank. As a consolation Bernier sticks up until that point in the season splitting time with Aubin. Labarbera goes to Manchester and him and Cloutier anchor the Monarchs to a calder Cup championship.
