The highest-paid Monarch
We're now well clear of the 9 a.m. deadline and, shockingly, nobody grabbed Dan Cloutier. The move to Manchester isn't automatic...the Kings have to announce it, but I would expect that to happen before tonight's game in Vegas.

Rich, what is your assessment of Jonathon Bernier? Do you think the Kings will eventually send back to Juniors even after possibly playing well in the first 9 NHL games?
Congrats to Thomas Hickey!

I love the way DL explains his decisions. It really helps understand why player moves are made or not made.
We will all become more intelligent Kings (hockey) fans because of it.
Thanks DL and thanks Rich for facilitating the process.
...they announced it on the kings site...
I just saw marc crawford and bob miller in the elevator lobby!
Rich,
How much of a concern is do the Kings have as far as the re-entry waiver situation with respect to Cloutier?
Last year we saw LaBarbera get stuck there and the Kings would not bring him up because of the re-entry waiver rule.
Are the Kings concerned if Cloutier plays well in Manchester that they might lose him if they try to recall him?
Aaron...that's the one question I have about the whole process. The Kings have basically said that they're not going to recall Cloutier until he's ready to play. So basically what they would be saying to the other 29 teams is, ``Here's a healthy starting goalie you can have for $1.55 million.'' I don't quite understand that...
Not answering for rich, but if you read the Lombardi, on Cloutier interview a few posts back, he explains that it's a risk they're willing to take and that it was thought through. In other words, they’re ok if he gets claimed coming up. The thing that struck me most about that interview is Lombardi’s description of Cloutier's reaction to the news he was going to Manchester. Lombardi said two times that he was quiet and basically didn't show a response. I find that to be really indicative of his future with the kings, meaning he doesn't have one. I re-watched the video interview Rich did with Dan and his demeanor seems very unenthusiastic, as if he's just going through the motions. I have to wonder if he's just mentally done with LA or mentally given up on trying to be a top goalie in the NHL, despite what he said. Of course, time will tell, but I’d be surprised if he ever played for the kings again.
...also, regarding your last comment rich, can't the kings trade him from manchester before bringing him up if he's playing well down there? Or is that not allowed?
