The more things change...
I've been watching the Rangers-Devils game for five minutes, and already Sean Avery has started a scrum near the Devils' bench and run a New Jersey forward into goalie Kevin Weekes, causing Weekes to leave with a head/neck injury.
In a preseason game.

Rich - How are you watching it? Is it being televised?
Yes...MSG Network.
Rich, I'm curious to find out, what was it like dealing with Avery in post-game interviews after losses?
Did you sense that the locker room atmosphere change at all after his departure?
Len...I generally didn't speak with Sean after games. Reporters usually gravitate toward ``team leader'' types in that situation. There were a couple times, on the road, when Sean spoke up and made himself part of the story, but rarely was he sought out.
Avery wasn't universally loved or hated in the room. But it's fair to say that after he left, things got lighter. His presence was not fun, nor did it do much to build team chemistry.
Are you kidding me.
Avery is nothing but an animal.
He and Todd Bertuzzi should be put in a cage and fight to the death.
He was a bad distraction to our organization and I was happy to see Lombardi get rid of him.
One of Lombardi's better moves (although rare).
Rich, How are you watching MSG? It's blocked out on my DirecTv...
MSG is blacked out on my Directv also, but the Isles/Flyers game is on channel 624. Tambellini is playing.
Yeah Aaron, it was on and then they blacked it out after the first period. No idea why, especially since I have Center Ice. They didn't black out Detroit-Minnesota last night.
Ernest...that's actually a game from April, just FYI.
Thanks Rich, Ernest...
Lame! Why do we get those channels if they're going to black them out? Why do I get channels in Spanish??
Television sucks.
Doh! I am not watching very closely (wife is home nagging) but I guess seeing Yashin's big mug should have been a clue huh?
This (hearing how Avery was in the room, etc.) is yet another reason why this blog is so great.
Rich - What was it like to be around the team when Andy Murray was coaching it? Were things pretty tense? I got the feeling that the veterans pretty much hated him while the younger guys walked on egg shells.
Give us some insight into the Murray-coached Kings if you have a moment.
Thanks. - Don
Fulton - Murray tought kids well. Very well. As far as Men go - see Scotty Bowman.
Fulton...there were definitely some eggshells in that room. One player, and I won't say who because he's still around, would hardly say anything on the record during the Murray era. Now he's loosened up quite a bit and, I think, feels more free to speak. And that's not a criticism of Andy, I'm just telling you how it was.
Crawford isn't exactly a calming figure, but it's different. With Andy, it was like a ``wait till Dad gets home'' vibe. Crawford will just yell and scream and then it's over.
Don't worry Rich, we all know it's a certain #13. ;)
