Training camp, Day 2

We're in the process of grabbing players for interviews as the final group is on ice finishing practice.

Lots of scoring early in the scrimmage today. Erik Ersberg got beat a few times early but on the other end, Dan Cloutier fared well for a second consecutive day. Some pretty intense action in the scrimmage, and one thing that grabbed my attention was Anze Kopitar making a particularly strong play on the forecheck. If he can add that aspect to his game, he will take a big step forward.

Jonathan Bernier and Thomas Hickey are on the ice today. They arrived from Russia during practice yesterday.

No video today...I have to head out to cover the Dodgers this afternoon but I will have some stuff and so will Matt, most likely. So stay tuned...

I realize it was only during the practice session, but I thought O'Sullivan and Nagy had some nice chemistry on the ice today....

I thought the last four games of the Super Series were in Canada...? Either way, thanks for the updates. Hopefully Cloutier can keep staying strong in net. That would be a much needed bonus this season.

Thanks Rich, to a sports fan it sounds like a dream to say I have to leave Kings camp so I can go watch the Dodgers. Is it just a job to you or do you enjoy it as a fan as well? Can I help?

Well it was just another day in the candy shop, boy do I ever appreciate it too, when you get as old as I am, you just enjoy the heck out of it. Talked with my old friend Daryl Evans today for about 20 minutes, it was great to see him again as I haven't been around the ice in about 6-7 years. Lotsa golf. Both Bob Miller and Darl are really looking tan and fit. Todays level of intensity rose about to level 3 since yesterday. Yesterday it was hi how are ya and today it started being like .... you want my what???? I don't think so. Ersberg has gotten a stinger two days in a row now "OUCH", today it was by JMFJ from the blueline but I don't know who gottum yesterday. First on the ice today ...... "Bustin Dustin", last off ..... a guy who I think has come here to really make a statement not just to his teammates but to the NHL also ... Michal Handzus .... fired a bucketful of pucks working the upper corners Niiiiccceeee. Jack Johnson..... this kid is more then what you saw at the end of last season, man can he pass and I don't care where the guy is at JMFJ hits the tape, standing still, fast, slow, long, short, 3 feet or 30 feet, it,s there. The wingers better be paying attention cause he can really see the ice, if you thought "Magic" could throw the "No Look Passes" you are in for a real treat with MR. JMFJ. Kopitar was skating about 3 levels higher today also, yesterday I was wondering how Brian Boyle would handle a winger moving with some steam down the wing and trying to go around him and cut in, he answered, I thought he did very, very well, he stayed right with his man each time and was never out of position. Who is this masked man called Dan Taylor??? Ahhh from Great Britain, selected 221st over all in 2004. Yesterday I said "get" when I was writing about Brady, what I meant to say was this, he "can" get it, excellent moves, good shot, and ..... speed with the puck. Only the 2nd day and you can see some of who will be going down and some who might have that chance. It really is fun to be there and to come here and get to talk about what you've seen. Don't mean to be so long winded, but I sure get jazzed watching these guys.
