Admit it
You guys are starting to feel bad for all of those immensely clever but seemingly premature slogans from two weeks ago!
Kings get a well-earned day off today.

Well done, Matt.
Nonsense. We obviously hit a vein called Pride.
I agree with Pierroth, I said some things about Frolov and he then picked up his game. I noticed last night he avoided finishing checks alot. I think from where he was at the last few games, he is starting to back slide. Or should I say, welcome back Mr. Hot and Cold?
My new Slogan: "Guarded Optimism"
My new Slogan: "Guarded Optimism" Especially with the stretch of games coming up. Loving the last six games though
My new Slogan "Welcome back to the Black Hole"
Based on attendance for the last three home games, they might try...
"Please Come Back, We Don't Suck As Bad As We Did Last Year!"
After a decade (or more) of mediocrity (at best), I can't say I have any regrets about beating up the team. They've made up the joke, I'm just telling it...
I do love them winning, but if you're a long time Kings fan, you have to have some sense of humor and probably should have a tiny bit of resentment for the shoty product they have given their loyal fans over the years. Just as a survival response.
Matt- Kings fan have a right to be less than the eternal optimists sometimes. We have had plenty of years of practice at getting our hopes up then dashed. Where were you last year and all those disappointing years before that? We already have plenty of people pointing fingers, why don't you try staying neutral instead of putting down the emotions of fans? The last few games have been great but it's a long season and we've seen it look good and then fall apart in the past.
Matt's job is to us inform and to keep this place lively, As For King fans, we have a right to demand the best from our team, seems ownership doesn't...
Matt's and Rich's job is to keep us inform and to keep this place lively, As For King fans, we have a right to demand the best from our team, seems ownership doesn't...
And I'd like to thank them both for doing so!
Yeah I like "Guarded Optimism" now but as a Kings fan I know that the team tends to take the 2nd period off in a lot of games. They also tend to get our hopes up for the first half of the season then take a nose dive in the second half. "Guarded Optimism" can they keep up the hard work for the whole year (Hopefully future captain Cammy will kick some booty if they dont). "Guarded Optimism" will they make the playoffs ... can they make it past the 2nd round for the 2nd time in their history ...
VAHE=Armenian
i think we on this website we're more "cautious pessimists"... but this streak is starting to show through the comments.
oh, and for some guarded optimism: i look forward to the andy murray-coached blues going through the second-half slide while we SURGE!
UM ...yeah... nice try kredell ...
the last few wins are nice no doubt BUT... as you might surmise from the posts here..we've all been stung by the kings of old... and it's still quite an early seaon.
i personaly have a hard time forgetting the last few painful seasons ... a team that's won all the games it should (as in beat the worst teams) THEN we it came to getting to the next level and beating great teams...they lost
Tell you what ...
If the Kings win thier Next TWO GAMES against DALLAS, COLORADO, AND DETRIOT ...then you can start talking about us eating slogans. Until then count me in as a "realist / pessimist"
I'll even give you the last Dallas win.
Only five more to go!
We're a .500 team!!!!
We're a .500 team!!!!
We currently hold the last spot in the playoffs!!!
Sound familiar?
Kings fans: The Biggest Whiners in Hockey
John--we're also the team that's gone longest without a championship, only once going past the second round, so lets hope the the squeaky wheel gets the grease.
C'mon John, surely you can do a little better than that! What'll you think of next? "Duckies: coz Orange is better than teal and eggplant"??
I saw the following on the spector's hockey site:
"Larry Brooks reports the following:
- LA Kings players are apparently tired of head coach Marc Crawford plus they reportedly have more confidence in goaltender Jason LaBarbera than either Crawford or GM Dean Lombardi.
Spector's Note: If the Kings players are tired of Crawford you'd never know it by their play of late, winning four straight with LaBarbera in net, which would also indicate Crawford and Lombardi appear to have more confidence in him than Brooks suggests."
Comments, thoughts? This sounds like b.s. to me, but what do I know...
Y'all are way too serious. I've been in this since the beginning just as some of you have but you really to lighten-up on Matt
"John--we're also the team that's gone longest without a championship, only once going past the second round, so lets hope the the squeaky wheel gets the grease."
It's just that the suicidal cynicism about a week ago was reaching biblical proportions! I was probably too harsh, but people whiging out does not make it any easier on the saner/patient ones amongst us
I happily admit so. The wins are awesome, but it is the team effort which has really been uplifting. They are playing great and everyone is doing so. So far, O'Sullivan is Unsung Hero, and it was great to see him get rewarded with the two goals. It's also great to see LaBarbera rising to the challenge.
wow you are all pricks
Crawford is still a terrible coach and the Kings will not go far with him at the helm. Just look at the goals being scored right now, most are skill versus a well coached offense. The PK is still terrible because of coaching (look how often the Kings player try and ring the puck around the boards without even looking).
This team still doesn't play as a 5 man unit and that is due to poor coaching. Plus, Crawford can't keep any line together for more than 1.5 games at a time. I'm sure he will break up the first line soon to "spread" around the scoring.
All 4 games have been against poor offensive teams, with another one coming up on Halloween.
Who else thinks that the Sharks will find their offense against the Kings coming up?
I hope that I'm wrong, but the Kings have proven the fans right every year but one.
What's your point Goko? Your'e Armenian too
Being a Kings fan should make us a really, really bitter good sport. Yet, everyone here is just bitter.
Ya'll need to lighten up & enjoy the ride these kids will be taking u on. U aint seen nothing yet! last years ducks=this years Kings!
I'll admit it...
I do feel bad for all of those immensely clever but seemingly premature slogans from two weeks ago.....I'll admit it.
The Kings play has been awesome the last two weeks. Oh yea, I'm holding my breath over the next 4 games when we'll have a much better idea of just how good our kids really are. But the facts are these:
We finally have two strong lines. Our third line is a good 3rd line; the checking line led by Army isn't too far off either. Sully has been terrific, offensively and on the PK. Loved his forecheck against the Oilers, he was all over the place and just wouldn't give any of their players any room to operate. He has certainly come a long way since last year. Babs, what can you say? First Star from the NHL this week and rightfully so. He has been playing out of this world. I expect him to cool off at some point but right now he's controlling the game and not vice-versa like in the past. The free-agents are all playing well, Calder has been terrific on the 3rd line with his forecheck, Zeus while still recovering from illness and his knee surgery is beginning to find his game. Nagy's benching was probably Crow's best move this season next to putting Sully on the 2nd line. I even saw Blake throw a hip check (a small one) against the Oilers. Fro is playing better as a result of his teaming with Sully and Nagy. The first line, well what can you say? Cammy leads the league in scoring, Brownie gets a 6 year extension and Anze will continue to score and continue to only get better.
Again, this team has some major challenges coming up. CBJ is a completely different team than in years past. The Sharks are still the Sharks, the home & home will be a real challenge. The Stars; the reality of it is they've beat Dallas one time in their past 10 games by just one goal. But the last two weeks have at least given me hope. This, after all was a team that was playing horribly, a team that had dug itself into a 1-5 hole I never believed they could dig themselves out of. They have and now are dead even, a fresh start at 6-6 and are playing their best hockey in the past two years.
Admit it?? No problem. I admit it.
It was our cynicism that woke up the crowd on Saturday. We had more "OILERS SUCK" chants going on than "LETS GO KINGS" or "GO KINGS GO". It felt great to be at the Staples Center with a bunch of fans who were really into the game.
