Aubin in, Willsie in, Nagy out

| | Comments (29) |

That's how it looks for tonight's game. J.S. Aubin will start and, barring a last-minute change of heart by Crawford, Ladislav Nagy will be scratched in favor of Brian Willsie. Maybe this will be a way to get the attention of some players who ``aren't on the same page.''

Quotes soon...

That's sad, a 3 and a half million dollar healthy scratch because he wont move his feet, what a loser.

I like this. Willsie was one of the better performers during the preseason. I hope he keeps it up tonight.

I'm all for Nagy being scratched. Oh wait, that means Willsie is playing..

I hate this team.

Scratching Nagy might be a good idea to light a fire under his arse, but seeing Willsie taking his spot makes me sick.

We should have sent down Willsie instead of Brady Murray...

Where's Anthony?

Finally he delivers a wake-up call.
I agree with this move. It may send the right message to rest of the team.
I just hope he doesn't put Wilsie on the top line with Kopi & Brown.
He should try putting Sully on that line. Then we can all watch red light turn on more often.
Go Kings, I have a good feeling about this game.

So it appears we are no closer to have a number 1 goalie.
Maybe Sean Burke will come out of retirement soon and try to rescue us again?

is Willsie the forward version of Modry?

Gord said:

I seem to remember Willsie doing well with Calder and Armstrong in the preseason. I hope that line is seen tonight. It would also give Sully a spot with Cammy or Kopitar's line, whatever colour Crawfords mood ring was at practice.

Gord said:

Time to see if Aubin can Solve the Problem. I predict a good game from O'Sullivan with a spot open on the top six.

Glad I got Center-Ice, plenty of good games to watch. Wow, anyone see that Sabres/Leafs game last night? Let me know how the Kings do tonight, hope they don't lose by too much, don't want to hurt Aubin's confidence.

Derek said:

Why is everyone assuming that Willsie will take Nagy's spot? Just because Wilsie is in and Nagy is out doesn't mean he will play on the 2nd line.

I assume Willsie will get a 3rd line assignment, which is fine. Hopefully, O'Sullivan will get a solid chance at the 2nd line.

Does that move really matter? It's like trading dry smelly poo for wet smelly poo. It's still poo. Then add in Aubin and it's with or without nuts.

Why not scratch Blake? That WOULD send a message.

And yet Armstrong remains in the top 6...

willsie wont take his place. o'sullivan should

To answer anthony (it must be rough to be so negative): "turning on the red light" has not been a real problem for the Kings--they're up toward the top of the conference in scoring. It's keeping our red light from going off all the time that is the problem. For that, we need a lot of grit and players willing to outhustle the opposition at both ends of the ice. When is that going to start happening? ...is it going to start happening?

Another loss. High five!

Ever notice how other teams score when Modry is in the penalty box? I'm just saying. He gets bashed on too much.

Marc Nathan said:

Painful to think that putting Brian Willsie in the lineup is sending a message to anyone...

Six games in and already I am wearing the opposition's jersey and root root rooting for the visiting team. If they don't win it's a (shame) MIRACLE.

Anyone remember last year when Coach Gretzky benched Nagy and then he came back and torched the Kings in his first game back?

This is funny, like Nagy is the reason our D has been sucking. This is the dumbest move i've seen, if your going to scratch Nagy for lackluster play, you may as well scratch Blake (that would send a clear message)or Stuart, hell even Lubo hasn't been playing well. Nagy hasn't done much this season but to scratch him as the scapegoat doesn't make much sense, especially when the main problem has been lack of hitting on the part of the d'men.

Nagy was a problem last year for two different teams--that's his recent track record. Why waste money on a known problem? Oh yeah, it's the Kings.

I'm with Derek on this one. Sitting Blake would be a real good message to this team and to him maybe. He's not leading this team as a C should. I say bench him.

Danny said:

can you ask him if he plans to sit Blake? He is 2 years overdue.

anthony said:

Careful Dom, you might start offending those who so hung up on free spending.

Nice to see this guy get a chance, hopefully he'll surprise us. Not looking forward to another couple of days worth of pissing and moaning (see: Anthony) if they aren't at least competitive again.../ It'll be good to see Belanger play again too..

Not saying that the Kings D is really bad, but I've read that up in Toronto, they're going to start testing heated blades for possible use in the NHL, God Forbid our D would use them. They way they stand around, they'd melt right through to the floor base of the ice.
