Brown quotes
His wife is due to give birth to their first child, a boy, in February.
On signing contract extension: ``Obviously, I'm pretty excited about it. The important thing is that six years provides me some security, knowing I'm going to be a King for a while, and that's what I really wanted.''
On risk of signing such a long contract: ``Obviously, there's a risk of the marketplace changing but I like living in L.A. and playing in L.A., so I'm willing to take that risk to be comfortable and be in the place I want to play with the team I want to play for.''
On having the negotiations over: ``Any time you're in contract negotiations, you try not to think about it. But it's nice to get it done with. Now I won't have to worry about it and can focus on playing.''
On how close he is to reaching his potential: ``I'm only 22 right now so I definitely can improve and get better. I don't think it's my full potential I'm playing at right now, but I feel like I'm playing pretty well and taking steps in that direction, and you can say the same thing about the team as a whole.''

Brownie signed for 6 more years = me a happy camper!!
Yep -- now the task will be to lock up Cammallari long term.
He has to still be smarting about the arbitration result so we need to avoid losing him in two years.
I agree completely with MM's remark. The way Cammalleri has played so far, his request for ~$6 million a year now seems reasonable and deserved. He should be the next King to get a long-term contract extension, hopefully by season's end.
wow! brownie is only 22!!
Right on to all, right on. The next priority has got to be to get Cammy signed long term. I keep hearing how he'd like to get to a Canadian team, hopefully not. We're all hoping that arbitration did not kill Cammy's desire to stay in LA, it may just be a simple desire to get closer to home in an area where he'd be recognized everyday for what he brings to the game. Hopefull this is not the scenario; to lock up Cammy long term has got to be the Kings No. 1 priority now. This team is just now beginning to come together, they may actually make the playoffs if they continue to play the way they are now. At the beginning of the season, to say that would be a reach. You can see the confidence the kids are now playing with, they actually are beginning to believe in themselves and in "the system".
Regardless, they believe they can win. Brownie's contract sends a message to all the young Kings, do your job, stay consistant and there is a payoff. This is especially important for Cammy to realize. DL felt and I must agree, that he was just too young to receive a long term contract. He had a couple of good seasons; that in itself is not a career. The arbitrator agreed. If Cammy continues to play the way he is, he truly would be a good investment in the 6-8 mil range.
