Cloutier update
Dan Cloutier started his first game for Manchester on Saturday and the Monarchs lost 2-1 to Providence. Cloutier stopped 28 of 30 shots.
``It's been a long time,'' Cloutier told the Union-Leader newspaper. ``I did feel a little rusty at certain areas. Obviously it's more noticeable at this level because it's so scrambly.''
Both goals, according to the newspaper report, came on shots that were initially stopped by Cloutier but managed to trickle past him and over the line.
``The two goals weren't very good goals,'' Cloutier said. ``(The goal scorer) had his head down and just fired, which most guys don't do. It hit my stick and then my skate. ... Those are the things I have to work on. That's why I'm down here.''

Rich,
Do you know if the AHL uses regulation-sized pucks? Or are they bigger than the ones used in the NHL? Honest question, I swear! :D
P.S. Don't leave. Ever.
Rick...same size.
Thanks for the Cloutier update. It would be a big plus if he got his game back.
I am not convinced it is a good idea to keep Bernier down here and Labarbera and Aubin do not instill confidence.
Then again, having Cloutier doesn't either so there you go...
At least he's accepted it...
``I did feel a little rusty at certain areas."
By "certain areas" did Dan-o mean "on the ice" and "in front of a net?"
Give me a break with the optimism. The best thing that can happen is a good streak in the AHL, a call up to the Kings, and a waiver claim.
The future in the net is with us now. That's not a bad thing, so deal with it.
Seriously, keep him down there. I don't care how he does down there, I hope to God we don't bring him back.
Some people seem to forget we need Cloutier to get back to form. With that said, one of those trickle goals is unacceptable. Two, is down right outrageous. I really hope he gets his confidence back. Man, even in the AHL he's still the same...
I agree with Carla and AJ. I watched Jamie Storr go from highest drafted goalie ever to a backup in Carolina last I heard. He also seemed so calm and cool in net but after a lot of games in front of a bad team, a young goalie can get worn down mentally. I really don't want Bernier to go through the same thing.
Give me a break with the optimism.
Well, you've hitched your wagon to the right NHL franchise, haven't you?
