Honor for LaBarbera
Jason LaBarbera has been named as the NHL's ``First Star of the Week,'' for the week ending Oct. 28. Brind`Amour and Ovechkin were the other two. Here's what the NHL release had to say about LaBarbera's week:
FIRST STAR -- JASON LABARBERA, G, LOS ANGELES KINGS
LaBarbera posted a 3-0-0 record, 0.67 goals-against average, .976
save percentage and one shutout as the Kings won three consecutive home
games. On Oct. 23, LaBarbera recorded his second career NHL shutout by
making 17 saves as Los Angeles defeated the Nashville Predators 6-0. Two
nights later, he recorded 29 saves as the Kings defeated the Dallas Stars
2-1. LaBarbera finished the week by making 34 saves in a 4-1 victory over
the Edmonton Oilers on Oct. 27. For the season, LaBarbera has posted a
record of 4-2-0 with a 2.06 goals-against average, .925 save percentage and
one shutout.

Go Jason go! Let's hope he can keep this up :)
A goalie that is chosen as star of the week and the NHL's leading goalscorer, who'd have thought that would happen 12 games into the season :)
Congratulations and way to go Jason! You were right....."I know I can do this!"
Again, you're giving your teammates a lot of confidence back there. Stay focused and continue to have a good year in leading the Kings back into the Playoffs!
According to the NEW YORK TIMES, the Kings are very unhappy with their coach. How true is that guys?
It's been great to see him play so well lately. I was expecting a few of those shots to go in, mostly because of how crappy the goaltending has been in the recent past.
Keep up the good work Babs.
His breakout year in the AHL notwithstanding, I never expected this type of goaltending from LaBarbara. He's truly been playing like an all-star. I don't really expect him to continue at this level all season, but would happily eat crow if Jason can keep it up! ;-)
If the rumour is in the NY Times, it's virtually a fact as I understand it. [sigh]
James,
I heard about that rumor as well. But it also stated that the players have little or no confident in Crawford and Lombardi. And that the players are unhappy.
It maybe a New York Times Rumor, but I think it has some validity. Especially about Lombardi.
Anybody remember when Lababera was NHL.com's #1 star 2 years ago at about this exact same time of the year? He had those family issues not too long after and never regained form. Here's to makin this work for another 70 (plus a few playoff games).
Regardless of the players think or feel, Lombardi is in charge and Crawford is the coach. So, wahhhhhhh!
Good job Labs! Keep it up.
James, anthony, and pierroth-
The "rumor" came from The New York Post. Not the New York Times. So take it for what it's worth. Remember that when our team was tired of Andy Murray, they REALLY showed it.
Labs had a sick girlfriend....
Larry Brooks appears to be retarded. This is also the scholar who believes that the Penguins are going to rent Olaf Kolzig for a playoff run.
Well, I hope that chemistry keeps on adding since they're winning now.
Andrew, I remember it. I hope he keeps it up as well.
deserved. nice to see the team playing with confidence in their goaltending.
Hey guys I looked at both the nytimes and post websites and found no articles about the Kings. Can anyone point me to the right direction?
