I'm taking off for dinner ...

The Kings can't blow a 3-1 lead entering the third period, right? Erm, let's see if they've learned anything since St. Louis. Post thoughts on the conclusion of the game here ...

You never, EVER go to dinner with a 2 goal lead and one period left. That is a rookie mistake! hopefully the hockey gods let you slide but if we lose, it's not cuz of crappy play but YOUR fault. (and crappy play)

GMatsuda said:

OK...who were those guys (in the second period) and what did they do with the Kings? :-)

And...Rich...if the Kings blow this one, you get the blame because you left! :-)

Matt that wasn't cool!

Shoulda called out for a pizza or delivery.

Going out for food with the game seemingly in the bag is bad Karma! I hope you don't cost the Kings the win! (j/k)

If any of you wonder or even care, Kopitar's shoot-out goal was number 3 on TSN's top plays of the week!

Wierd ... if you listend to the kings feed from NHL.com you hear daryl and nick

If you listen to the kings feed from KTLK's website ... you hear daryl and nick

only there's different commercials

AAANDD KTLK KEEPS INTERUPTING THE DMN GAME!

but NHL dot come does not even tho the audio quality is not as good...

screw those "progressive talk" bastards!

Alright Sully lovers that was his screw up on the coverage that let it get to 3-2.

What the hell was Ivanis doing on the ice?!?!?!?!

Gord said:

Sully also drew at least one penalty with his work along the boards.

And he killed several penalties, along with the much-maligned Michael Handzus

KINGS WIN KINGS WIN!!!!!
HERE WE GO BOYS..LETS BUILD ON THIS AND RACK UP SOME WINS NOW..LET STICK WITH LABARBARA

NHL Center Ice tonight broadcasted the Kings game with the Vancouver feed, luckily the broadcasters were not homers (like that idiot Heyward), they had lots of praise for the Kings about what a good young team they have. (even before the Kings went ahead) Much kudos to Handzus about the type of player he is. They also commented on the "excellent" pickups of free agents Calder and Nagy, funny to hear outsiders compliment the Kings team while our own fans are bashing the team 7 games into the season.
Rogers Sports Net gave the 3 stars to:
1. J. Johnson
2. Ohlund
3. Handzus

OK from now on Rich Hammond has to go to dinner at the second period of every future King's game..
;-X

It was not Rich it was Matt, Rich knows! he's a veteran. But your off the hook Matt. :)

Neeebs said:

I missed the first period, but....from the second period on, this was a team that hit the opponents more this game than all previous games combined.

Um, guys, hit and finish your checks and you might get some open ice to make some plays.

Handzus played a physical game. Sully hit. Even Nagy played a pretty good game.

Oh, Labarbera played a solid game in goal. He deserves another start.

The Kings still haven't learned anything from the St. Louis game. They were outshot 13-1 (not counting the EN goal) in the third period. Luckily, this time Labs came up with a couple of great glove saves. This could have easily ended up in overtime or another Kings loss.

Big Rob in Dallas said:

Just thought I'd put this out there. We are now 2 points from a playoff spot and only 5 from 1st place in the Western Conference.

I can't believe Labs didn't get 1st star. He absolutely saved the game for us in the 3rd period. Stupid media hacks.

Goon Squad said:

Stuart has made a turnover behind the goal line that has led to a goal for the opposition it seems like the last 3 or 4 games. Good news is Crow finally pulled him off the PK. Bad news is he put Modry on with Blake.

The way Stuey coughs up the puck, I think a good nickname for him would be "Hairball".

Anthony?

Good win! Did Anthony change his name?

Matthew Kredell said:

See, I had faith that the Kings would pull through.

I'm really not sure what media it is that decides the three stars. I've never been asked for my vote while covering a game. Maybe I'm just not in the loop yet.

Carla Muller said:

Matt, I once read a Buccigross column on espn where he was asked this question and he said at one game, they asked him to name the 3 stars personally.

It didn't sound like it was too democratic a process...

Matt...at least at the Kings games, they ask the beat writers to do it, but I wonder if they stick to the ones who are members of the Professional Hockey Writers Association. Are you a member?

Matthew Kredell said:

No, I'm not a member. I wasn't put on the beat until a week before training camp, after applications were due. But I've never seen Rich asked while he's sitting next to me at games either.

Goon Squad said:

Regarding my earlier comment about Stuart, Nigel Tufnel of Spinal Tap once said, "It's a fine line between stupid and clever." I think I may have crossed that line. Sorry, not used to the Kings winning...happy now.

fulton said:

Don't get me wrong - I'm definitely happy about the win - but getting out-shot 13-1 in the third is a big concern, as it only reinforces the fact that this team has trouble playing with a lead.

Not sure why that should surprise me though, as there have not been a whole lot of Kings teams that I recall that played well with the lead. Even the Gretzky/Kings teams played on their collective heels in the final period when ahead in the game, and then we were left to endure the final 90 seconds of complete panic and scrambling....

Why is it that some teams turn it up a notch in this situation while others play so timid?

If Crawford doesn't stick with Labs in net barring injury, he's dumber than George Bush!
