Johnson on his NHL first goal
``It was fun to get one. Calder was on a 1-on-1, so I thought I'd jump up and make it a 2-on-1. He made an incredible pass to me and I had the easy part just sliding it into the empty net.''
``I think everyone remembers their first NHL goal. I'll never forget it was in Vancouver and on one of the best goalies in the league.''
``Defense is my No. 1 responsibility and chipping in on offense is just an added bonus. I'll continue to try to do that if the opportunities come.''

This guy is the real deal. By this years end, he's going to be a Calder Trophy candidate.
By far, Lombardi's best acquisition. All the other acquisitions aside, from Sully, haven't lived up to expectations.
Anthony, I hope for your sake you are single. No one could ever live up to your expectations.
I think people need to get off the bash Anthony bandwagon. His posts have been "leaning" to the positive side as of late, yet everyone keeps going at him.
I agree with rob34; there's no doubt Anthony is an honest-to-goodness Kings fan, and he has made several valid points over the last few weeks. He's also never rude or insulting.
Instead of bashing him for his attitude, why not try specifically refuting what he writes?
There's nothing wrong with a dose of healthy skepticism now and then. I hope people don't view this blog as merely an opportunity to wave purple and silver pom-poms while we blow sunshine up one another's butt.
I think one reason the Kings have remained mediocre for so long (along with some rotten luck on the injury front earlier this decade) is the fact that management gets practically a free pass from the fan base here. Lord knows they'd be subjected to much harsher scrutiny if this franchise were located back East or in Canada.
Distasteful as it was to watch, I'm hoping the Ducks' Cup victory will inspire all of us who care about Kings hockey to embrace a higher standard. I'm pretty sure that's where Anthony is coming from as well.
BTW, this blog is certainly doing its part to help serve that purpose, so thanks again Rich and Matt...keep up the outstanding work!
One thing I gotta say about Kings fans critical or not, we don't ride the bandwagon unlike ducks fans.
When I heard there was a goal involving Calder and Johnson, I assumed it involved Calder tipping in the puck from a Johnson blast at the point. The real way it happened works out well also, although given the way Calder plays I wouldn't be surprised if the scenario I expected happens anytime soon.
I agree with Rob & Rick. Too much negativity can bring down this blog, but constantly critizing other bloggers gets old REAL QUICK too.
Does anyone else notice some of the subtle little things JJ does? Some of his cuts and turns are just awesome, he's so fast with his feet..
Anthony just needs to keep it as real as possible, he loses me when he takes a narrow view of what Lombardi/Crawford are doing and just mindlessly bags on them. The team/franchise is coming together on and off the ice, there will be setbacks and frustrations but there is a general trend there of improvement and building for the future, lets enjoy it and not lose sight of the bigger picture, that the Kings are realistically building towards competing for the Cup in a few years.
This kid just keeps getting better and better. And I love the way he's so open and willing to learn. Carolina fans are going to be broken up over this trade for a long time!
No kidding.
Shortly after the trade, one of the Hurricanes bloggers had a post with the first line, "Curse him for having the patience of a small child!"
I think it reflects well on him that he didn't want to leave school in the middle of the season because he didn't want to leave his teammates in the lurch since he had committed to playing with them.
