Line change
The big news from practice today is that Michael Cammalleri worked with Derek Armstrong and Alexander Frolov on the second line. Ladislav Nagy joined Anze Kopitar and Dustin Brown on the first line. Crawford said he will try the switch out in tomorrow's game against Boston in an effort to spark the second line. Cammalleri will still play with Kopitar and Brown on power plays. Tom Preissing missed practice and Crawford said he was doubtful to play Friday. More notes and quotes to come ...

Would Crawford just leave the lines alone for a couple of games and let the players try to build some chemistry?
wtf? i understand trying to spark the second line, but i just don't feel very good about breaking up our best line w/ the most chemistry.
Why should Nagy deserve a spot on the top line, I think O'sullivan has earned it and also has the skills to work well with Kopitar. Just my two cents.
Good to see someone is listening to me, cause I suggested this yesterday. Split the first line up, Kopitar will make anybody better and Camms will score his 30 regardless of his linemates.
My thoughts exactly Joe, O'Sullivan has been playing well and could use someone feeding him the puck. I think Cammalleri is a one man scoring machine so moving him probably won't affect his numbers too much.
O'sullivan should center the second line and army should just play the 3rd or 4th line IMO.
I don't get all the love for O'Sullivan. I mean, he's barely into his second NHL season (didn't play much in his first) and hasn't done much of anything. I definitely think he's been one of the better skaters this season along with Calder, but why should he be on the 1st or 2nd line?
Who breaks up a successful line? This is the only bright spot for the Kings. And now Crawford wants to change that. Keep the lines together for more than "one shift". No one clicks immediately, give them 10 games together and things will work out. It looks to me that no one knows where to go, they are totally unorganized. What are the Kings working on in practice??????? Not positioning, not game situations, obviously. I'm starting to wonder about Crawford!!!
I agree with last four comments. O'Sullivan has been playing his heart out for the team. He's sacrificing his body in the corners and making plays for his linemates.
He's even losing his teeth as a result. He's earned the right to play with linemates who are offensively gifted.
He also should be allowed to play on the power play instead of Calder.
Last year after being called up from Manchester he was consistently on the second unit power play. On 5 on 3 situations, He would play first unit. And he was very affective and productive.
I don't know what Crawford has against him this year.
Have to call first on this one. I said split them up after Saturday's game. It will help. Cammilleri is going to do more good with Frolov and Army. Has Nagy "earned" first line time? No. So What? The guy has skills, let's find out what he can do. I'm not worried about O'Sullivan, he's coming along nicely.
Holy crap boys, this isn't baseball, it's hockey and by the way you guys are running around with this and that like you've never played anything, especially hockey. So what if Crow switches up lines, at least he gives you guys more to bitch about. Some of you are just worried about your favorite player and that he should be on the first line, or 1st power play or 1st to be traded. Lighten up. The Cup finals don't start until next June and the end of the season is in April. Now if you can handle it, come back in two years and ride the bandwagon. There's going to be keepers and there's going to be those that don't fit and will be traded. So suck it up and root for "The Team" and it'll be much more fun here. The fun is watching the team get put together and go for it all, but it isn't going to happen even if we had Crosby, Gretzky amd Mario on one line.
You guys are making too much out of this... Do you think these guys have been playing with each other for 5 hours or something? They are professionals (or at least should be, either that or they get paid alot of money to be called professionals) and over the years and years of playing they can certainly adapt to playing with anyone for one single game.
It is early season and Crawford is doing what he thinks is best to getting his team back on track. It is his job to organize the lines and he is trying new combinations he thinks will give the team a boost.
He broke up a line that already had chemistry to try to promote chemistry in two other lines. It is a good trade-off and I think Kopitar and Cammy will be able to manage. At least give him 10 games before you guys start screaming doomsday and chanting "fire Crawford."
What is funny is after the Ducks games everyone was crying about the lines, and then when Crawford changes them everyone is crying to leave them alone and fire him.
I like Crawford...he brings great character to this club and he is doing the best that any coach could with this line-up. This isn't the best Kings team, but remember...the Ducks weren't all that great last year...they won on chemistry...
Let's give Crawford his space and give him the support to find that chemistry among the guys.
Stop crying please...if you cry too loud, they'll bring in some other coach like Kitchen or the works...I would prefer Crawford and the all-star coaching staff we have now.
Bad move IMO. You have one line scoring, at least that's SOME scoring. Beyond that it was nil. Mess with the other three lines if you want to but I wouldn't play with the one that's actually producing.
O'Sullivan is an offensive player and to be effective he will need someone better than Ivanans to play with if he's going to produce. If he's the only talented guy out there, it's easy to shut him down. I'm not saying he needs to be on a top line but give him someone with good hands to work with.
