Blake
``Just when we got back in the game, we lost our structure in our zone probably three or four times against their top line.''
``We can't take any improvement out of this game because we still came away with a loss. They played well as a team and we played the opposite way. When you have a structure and don't play up to that system, you're going to get picked apart by a good team. That's what happened tonight.''
On the last goal: ``It went off my pants. When things aren't going right, those are the types of plays that end up in your net.''
Kopitar
``We've got to keep on going and try to stop this thing from going downhill. We've got to stop it first, then push it uphill again. But stopping it is probably the hardest part.''
``I think everyone is trying their best right now but it's going the opposite way most of the time. It's really frustrating.''
Crawford
On Bernier: ``I thought he was pretty good tonight. You couldn't fault him on the third and fourth goals, and that goal on the rush I don't think any goalie in the league would have stopped that shot. Jonathan bounced back tonight. We were happy to see that he bounced back. He played a strong game for us and that's what you look for.''
``I think our team right now, we don't have the luxury to be demoralized. Certainly, it hurts. It hurts our fans, we know that. We know how much they're struggling with our group right now. They've been so great and so patient with this group. I understand that lack of patience with this group. But we have to stay the course and we have to believe that doing the right things will ultimately pay good dividends.''
Crawford keeps talking about ``staying the course.'' I'm not sure which course he is talking about, because the one they're on seems headed to last place.

exactly matt! sounds like he's taking notes from the white house iraq stratagy. at what point do we consider a surge?
What!
Stay the course?
Does that mean to keep doing what the coach tells the players. Because he's been so briliant thus far.
What is he on dope or something.
The "course" that Crawford is refering to is to a top 3 pick in the upcoming draft.
The Pittsburg Penguins haven't been looking too bad after having taken that "course."
Yeah, "stay the course.."
The Titanic had a "course" too ya know.
Crow needs to go. He really isn't that great of a coach at all. He was lucky to win that Cup with the Avs.
He was mediocre in Vancouver and didn't put Gretzky in the shoot-out in the 98 Olympics. He should never coach again for that reason alone.
talk about a bad freakin night.
I left staples after the second period... i was bored watching the kings perform like an AHL team.
I took the train to Universal where I had left my Jeep.
Then I got carjacked.
Bunch of punks stole my Jeep after ripping me from the steering wheel.
That god damn Universal City Walk has been a den of punks for years now...and I KNEW in my heart it was a risky place but I parked there anyway. Its a long story and I don't have my Jeep anymore...those dickheads are probably trashing it as I type this.
Anyway I'm putting this in here cuz I'm still in shock and trying to sort it out in my head. Im glad my wife wasnt there..who knows what would have happened.
If you guys take the train to staples...watch your back because even though we've all been trained to be politically correct, there's a reason why your worries are justified.
I so pissed
Any word on when the Kings will be offering refunds to season ticket holders?
Sorry to hear about your night mattgeorge. I was supposed to be going to the game, but my friend who had the tix thought it started at 7:30 and by the time I realized it, the game was already started. So I watched it on TV. And it wasn't pleasant. But, I think it was a step up from the Boston game. We'll have to give this team 6 or 7 weeks to get to know each other before we can really judge what kind of a team we have. And I think they have to learn the system that's in place. And the only way to do that is to play together for a bit. They going to lose some games to teams like Detroit, Anaheim and San Jose, who've played together for a while. Painful, yes, but I think that's life in the NHL. You don't overhaul a team the way the Kings did and expect them to gel in a month. Come December I'll bet things look a lot better for the boys.

Any word on when the Kings will be offering refunds to season ticket holders?
AEG will get right on those refunds as soon as they finish up refunding Galaxy season ticket holders for the old bait-and-switch tactic they used Beckham for. Good luck with that.
"Crawford keeps talking about ``staying the course.'' I'm not sure which course he is talking about, because the one they're on seems headed to last place."
..and to the golf course.
HEY!
just got a call from the cops..they got my car and the bitches that stole it!!
wew hew!!!
Ok im feeling better... my wife asked why I left between the 2nd and 3rd period... i said because the kings were flat out BORING to watch....
i wasnt even upset about the detroit scoring... we just WERENT in the game
Stay the course... Stay the course... A thousand points of light...
Stay the course.
(not gonna d'it!)

Glad to hear you and your jeep are ok, mattgeorge...
I was at the game and after two periods, I was literally falling asleep in my seat. Absolutely no energy in the building and the Kings seemed so ill-prepared to play tonite. I've seen more intensity at a team scrimmage than I did tonite...
A chance to beat the Redwings if you play hard. What more motivation does one need?
I find it incredibly frustrating that the Kings seem to be skating way harder at practice than they do during the games.
Stuart looks like he is skating in snow, i dont know what anyone else is seeing in his game.
I think the reason Crawford called the timeout in the third was to discuss where they would be going to dinner. By that time in the game the Kings had already left the building. They may have been on the ice, but they where not playing with any heart!
I'm as disappointed in the play of this team as everyone else, and I agree that Crawford isn't doing the best job in the world.
But to those who are begging Crow be fired.....and replace him with ???
Dave Lewis? Let's remember that he was head coach of a last place team in Boston before they canned him after just one season.
At least Crow has a Cup on his resume.
The bottom line last night was that the better team won. You can blame whoever you want on the Kings, but first blame Detroit. They outplayed the Kings on every shift.
The only 'course' I'll be taking is calling DirecTV today to order Center-Ice. Anybody want to help me pick a new team to follow? I've never said that in the 14 years I've been dedicated to the Kings, but I am totally serious. I refuse to watch another season of this.
anyone besides me sick of hearing from blake? the guy says the right things, but never steps up on the ice. he should not be our captain. if he wants to be captain of this team, he needs to step up fix this sinking ship. don't even get me started on crawford. if this loosing steak continues, we could have a new coach. anyone know of any coaches available now??
At the game there was a lot of cheering. Too bad it was for the visiting team.
LA KINGS - COME SEE YOUR HOMETOWN WIN A HOCKEY GAME WITHOUT SPENDING MONEY ON THE AIRFARE.
great stuff. check your site multiple times daily
Are we already positioning ouselves for the 2008 draft lottery. Hopefully we're heading into a potential top 3 pick in next june draft.
Why did we fire Andy Murray...Last I checked he has done a solid job with the Blues. Even if the Kings are in the top 3 in picks (the way things are going they will be), the Genius DL will draft another Hickey type player. They will draft a late first round player with their top 3 pick
So we know the team can win, and infact its a good team, So what is going on? where is it all falling apart? Who is responsible, I think the team is cursed. This has been going on for years now. Some give me some hope that this isnt like the last 9 years.
Is anyone else besides me involuntarily physically wincing now whenever you read one of Blake's quotes?
I know this team is not at all starting the season off on the right foot, but I'd rather see them work their S**T out now and then get in a groove, versus doing what they have been doing the past 3-4 seasons...start off fast, then fade in the end.
I'll go even further...WHY did they fire Barry "the Mullet" Melrose??? He was the last coach to actually take us anywhere...playoff-wise...
Right now we need someone that's capable of coaching a cat in from the rain with a catfish...and it looks like Crawford ISN'T the man for the job...
This was my first game of the season at Staples. My buddy called me during the second period. (He knew I was at the game.) He asked me, "are you in a library." It was sooooooo quiet in the building. But, to the fans credit, there was nothing to cheer about.
The 4th line was the only line working hard. Everyone else was going through the motions.
After watching six game so far, the trend is that there is no one on the Kings who is hitting, and checking opponents off the puck, and making the opponents pay when they handle the puck. Also, no one is in front of the net to get rebounds, garbage, and working man's goals. (except maybe Calder.)
If the Kings want to be a finesse team, it will be a very long season. I know its early but this has got to stop.
It's time for some healthy scratches, and yes I mean veterans too. Bring up some prospects etc, how can it get worse? If the vets don't want to skate then bring up someone that will fight for a roster spot. Apparently most of the roster seems way too comfortable with their spot right now.
