Calder and Ivanans
Crawford said Calder would be a game-time decision but that he was ``very optimistic'' about Ivanans playing. ``They looked good today,'' Crawford said. ``If they look like that tomorrow, there's a very good chance they will play.''
Calder said he would wear a cast under the glove of his left hand to protect the broken thumb. He wasn't wearing a cast sitting at his locker after practice so I could see that the thumb kind of looks like Frankenstein's head with the stitches. It's also still swollen about 50 percent more than its usual size.
``There's some limitations in what I can and can't do with the way I shoot and a couple things like that, so I'll have to figure out how to work around it,'' Calder said.

That's ok Calder! All we need you to do is breathe a breath of fresh air into this team by playing gritty along the board, hitting a few bodies, and of course, get in front of the net. Basically, just be yourself!
And now for the Manchester Monarchs Update:
Bad Goaltending is Bad.
If he needs to wear a cast tomorrow, may be he shouldn't play?
It's not like we're gonna win with Kyle in the line-up.
The previous post wasn't meant to be an insult to Kyle. I like him, but it's not like he's a game-changing forward whose presence will determine if we win or loss. So if he's not at 100%, why even risk playing him?
After the Kings 6-5 "royal rebound" against Dallas, Crawford said that this could be the game that changes the entire season. He was right! Instead of moving up in the standing, the Kings have done nothing but lose! Losing is one thing, but not even trying your best, each and every game as a professional is embarassing and pathetic.
Calder, Ivanans, whatever. Just wake me up when we finally trade Blake and Crawford to ESPN for Melrose + draft pick.
Couldn't agree more with Jim Jones. If his thumb is that swollen and he has to work around the fact that he basically can't shoot, then why? It's so typical Kings.
He'll most likely make it worse and not play well.
This is not the playoffs and he is not Tomas Sandstrom.
i know the kings are struggling but damn let the swelling go down jesus ESPECIALLY with calder's style of play
It has only been 1 period so far, and already Calder has made a big impact, IMO.
You have to remember... Hockey players are a special breed of lunatic. If he feels like he can play, let him! Remember Doug Gilmour? He would be held together by duct tape and crazy glue sometimes.
