LaBarbera on the hot seat
With the Kings possibly having interest in Bryzgalov and other rumors floating around about trades the Kings could make for a goaltender, here's Jason LaBarbera's reaction ...
``If you start thinking about all that stuff, you'll drive yourself crazy and probably end up playing worse. The season is so long. You can't get caught up in playing good for four games or OK for four games. It's just a matter of playing hard every night and giving your team a chance to win.''
Why pick on Jason LaBarbera? If he had good defense, King's goaltending would be a problem. Having said that he needs to work on the hole above his high glove side....
I would rather have babs than byrz.
The only reason why he had some good numbers in Anaheim was because of the team playing in front of him.
Take Bryz before someone else does. He is better than Giggy. And we don't have to trade youth to get him.
Babs has not done what we need him to so it is time to take the next step.
Or would you rather give up Frolov, draft picks and youth to get Emery? So far the 2 are about even with sugar Ray being a bit more marketable in L.A.
that's just not true.
bryzgalov isn't a world beater but he's a better option than aubin and he's at worst on the same level as labarbera. that said i don't think bryzgalov gets past phoenix.
John Roy Morgan: Labarbera also needs to work on that whole in between his legs, and the fact that he is slow from side to side, and needs to learn to use his leg to stop all the rebounds that he gives up, instead of trying to jump on them, only to find himself sprawled out on the ice. Those aside, he is an excellent #1 goalie!
LA Kings 2010-2011 Stanley Cup Champions, you forgot that he never tries to use his stick to block the 5 hole. Other than that he's ok.... I'm glad you picked 2010-2011 for the Kings to win, cause Rasputin said the world will end just after that year. Good way to go out...
My bad it was Nastradomis who predicted the end of the world in 2012.
What do the Kings have now for goaltending??? Give Bryz a chance, although he probably goes to PHX. We find out tomorrow.....
I still say we never should have let Garon go. He had the best Lateral movement og any goalie ive seen, If he had La Barbera's size hed prob still be a king. but then again im not sure what Lombardi is thinking anyway, overpaying Blake retirement deal, Signing Cloutier, Modry to anything.
Les the team needs sound defensive play in front of any goalie we have!
La Barbs biggest flaw ive seen is his early commitment to going down to make a save and his slowness of at least 7-8 seconds to get back up. Most other goalies that ive watch flop down in the league have a medium of 4-6 recover time and are back on their feet and locked togo.
La Barbs size is an asset at covering a lot of net and his minimal movement is good that he doesnt panic, but its because of his size ive seen him take more time to recover after a 1st save, and D had to be sharp on the rebounds clearing.
TSN has confirmed the Bryz will start for the Coyotes today against the Kings.
Burke said he didn't get any realistic offers for him so that is why he was waived.
I gotta believe that there was no offer that Burke would take to send him to the Kings and that Burke wouldn't have waived Bryz if he didn't know for a fact that there were at least a couple teams ready to take him ahead of the Kings in the waiver sweepstakes...
Bryzgalov has been claimed by Phoenix and will start in goal against the Kings this afternoon...
Now that saturday's game
is over...
Let it be said for the record that LaBarbera played very strongly today (37 saves on 38 shots with LOTS of action in our end), and the loss was obviously not in any way
his fault.
Bryzhgalov got the glory (and the W), but Labs played just as well today or better, IMO.
If we get some offense today, we win.
Didn't happen.
Where is the "O"?
