Moulson sent down
Short stay for Moulson with the Kings. He was assigned to Manchester. Not sure what this means for Saturday. Calder isn't expected be ready so they could call someone else up this week. At least Moulson has his first NHL goal to show for his cross-country trip.

The reason is simple. Rather than have him spend the week here doing nothing he can get valuable playing time in Manchester.
They'll just call him back up after a few days. This way he'll get at least 1 or 2 more games in Manchester.
Xis, that's what I figured at first as well. But then I checked the Monarchs' schedule and, assuming he didn't play in today's game, the Monarchs don't play again until Friday. So, if the Kings wanted Moulson for Saturday's game, I'd think it would have been better to keep him up practicing with the Kings.
xis,
That would make sense if the Monarchs had a game or two games before the next Kings game.
The next Kings game is November 10th.
The next Monarchs game is November 9th.
My guess is that the kings want to take a look at as many players as possible. I think Gauthier or Purcell should be the next ones being called up. But then again, they may want to give Boyle a few games as a forward or my favorite and longshot, Wayne Simmonds. Or it could be as simple as recalling Murray.
Latimes claims it is to "clear up salary cap space down the road"....
Maybe Ivanans is ready to play. So they saw no point in making Moulson a healthy scratch?
Moulson did do a GREAT job. I'm glad he got tons of shifts in the 3rd period last night too. His line with Army and Zeiler were the best ones out there because no one else was producing.
Hope to see him back in a Kings uniform soon enough.
I don't like this move...
Ah interesting.. Maybe I should have checked the Monarchs schedule before I typed. Maybe he's gone back to gather the rest of his stuff so he can stay with the team :-D
Just kidding of course. I guess we'll find out what the real story is.
I think XIS was right the first time. If this week is going to be light on practice and also focus on off the rink teambuiding exercises you probably don't need/want him around. It would be like any of our employers having an offsite teambuilding event and then inviting the temp secretarial staff.
Plus he can always catch a flight after Friday's game. It is 2007.
Maybe Crow is going to give Thornton another chance to show what he's made of. (I know he doens't have much to show but nothing else made sense so far this season)
That's it JB
let's put a jet-lagged rookie in the line-up
Rich or Matthew - Can you guys ask Dean Lombardi about our top prospects in Manchester, and in the CHL. It looks like to me that Purcell, Lewis, and Boyle are doing well along with Oscar Moller, Wayne Simmonds, and Thomas Hickey. It would be nice to get a critique on their development.
Thanks,
If you do get to ask about prospects, please ask about Lauri Tukonen also.
He got a cup of coffee last year, and hockeysfuture.com says he's our top RW prospect, even ahead of Moller. I'd like to know what the organization thinks of him.
Thanks in advance.
I don't like this move either. A guy gets a goal in his first NHL game and gets sent down? Did he play much on Saturday?
Paul,
Tukonen only has one goal, no assist thus far for Manchester.
For an 11th overall pick, looks like a dissapointment so far.
But he's only 21 and has time to turn things around.
It is unfortunate Moulson was sent down. He deserved his chance, leading Manchester in scoring and looked good while with LA. Hopefully we haven't seen the last of him......
Thanks Anthony. I was aware of his stats. What we don't know is the story why? That's what I'd like to hear from DL.
Maybe we'll trade him to Ottawa for Emery & Heatly since the Ottawa papers think we're trading everyone else. :p
