Tonight's lines

Following up on all the discussion yesterday of line combinations, here's how they were skating for most of the second period, at least:

Cammalleri-Kopitar-Brown (the reunion tour)
Moulson-O'Sullivan-Frolov
Nagy-Handzus-Willsie
Thornton-Armstrong-Zeiler

Blake-Visnovsky
Stuart-Preissing
Modry-Johnson

It's 1-0 Dallas after two periods, with Steve Ott recording a second-period goal on a deflection in front of the net. Jason LaBarbera has stopped 14 shots.

They are looking pathetic tonight imo... With the exception of Labarbera, they all look like they are just gliding around and not putting a great amount of effort into it. The Stars are like permanently in the Kings' zone with the exception of a few power plays the King's get.

Its now 3-0 Stars with less than 4 minutes left... I think I am going to join the fire Crawford bandwagon now... The lines need to be a little more static and they need to stop playing this pathetic defensive game they are stuck with now. Crawford's system is not the answer for LA, keep Lombardi but Crawford has to go. The whole game was like a Dallas powerplay.

I am so tired of people getting on the fire Marc Crawford bandwagon. In case you fans don't remember, coaches always shuffle lines to get more production. The Kings are scoreless in two games now. In tonight's game I saw some consistency in the lines, and still there were no goals. Do I like the way the Kings are playing now? No! I am just as mad at them losing 4 in a row as the next fan. But I don't believe it is all on the coach. I am going to be slayed for saying this, but I like Crawford. Those who want him gone I ask you this---who do you want to coach our team? or better yet who would do better?

How bout Dave Tippet?

What has Frolov done to get placed with all of the guys that cant score. He has been there most consistent scorer yet when the game is on the line or LA needs a goal crawford keeps him on the bench or brings him out with only seconds to go. What did Flolov do? Or what does he have to do to get placed with someone who has at least the potential to score goals consistently.

Teach, its not just the shuffling lines thing. Crawford seems to reward his favorites with unearned playing time. Look at Blake, Army and up until he got hurt Cloutier. The players that deserve the playing time, but are not on Crawford's good side like Sully or Nags get to ride the pony.

the lines tonight looked like they had some consistency because Crawford finally reunited the lines that have done the best for us so far this year.
In the last few games Crawford has been switching the lines from game to game and even from shift to shift.
Even though Crawford put the best lines back together in this game it is going to take sometime to get familiar with one another again.
The best thing that Crawford can do right now is keep these lines together for the next 4 or 5 games, no matter what the outcome ends up being!

As far as you question goes: How about Dave Tippet, the coach of the Dallas stars, who might find himself without a job before this season is over, seeing as how the new management wants to have more of a run and gun offense.
Or how about Ron Wilson, the coach of the San Jose Sharks, who also might find himself without a job if the team does not win the Stanley Cup this year.
If I had the time I am sure I could come up with many more capable guys who could coach this team better than Crawford!

I will say it now, with Crawford as our coach we will never make the playoffs! No matter how many seasons he gets to try, which will hopefully not even go beyond this one!

You see, you guys bring up Ron Wilson and Tippet. They have done the same shuffling of lines that Crawford has done while their teams have struggled. I guess you always pay closer attention to the team you love. Also, neither one of them have gotten their team's to the "promise land". Wilson has had the best or one of the best teams for the last couple of years, yet they haven't gotten very far. Tippet, love him, but he hasn't gotten his team far in the playoffs either. I know I know at least these teams were in the playoffs. Well, I don't just want to play well in the regular season to just make the playoffs. I want to win in the playoffs because if you don't what was the point of the regular season?

this is exactly the reason that I brought up both of those guys. It is well know in the league that after enough times/years of hearing the same things the player have a tendency to tune out what the coach is saying, and therefore the players lack motivation! This is what I see is Dallas' problem, and even to a lesser extent San Jose' problem. Sadly enough, I also see this as the Kings problem, even though it has been such a short time.

So maybe the three team should work a three-way trade, Tippet to San Jose, Wilson to LA, and Crawford to Dallas! Then maybe all their problems will be solved. Just a thought!

"I want to win in the playoffs because if you don't what was the point of the regular season?"

I couldn't agree with you more, and I just don't see that happening with Crawford at the helm.

i'm more worried about Crow's inability to get these players fired up or at least playing with heart...

as i say this, they are pros and shouldn't need a coach to get them fired up.

one thing i didn't expect this season was a GUTLESS club.

This again is my point, when you think that your boss is a complete moron, which I think a lot of the players do, then you find it hard to work any harder than you have to, to earn your paycheck!

Hockey is just like living on the farm. we could take the stock to water but it didn't mean they were going to drink it. Crawford can't be that dumb otherwise he wouldn't have been in the NHL this long. The only lines that I can ever remember not being shuffled around was Chicago's MPH line, Detroit's Production Line, Kings Triple Crown Line and do you know how they all came about?????? Line shuffling. We'll see some new faces come December and then alot of folks will say, DL doesn't know what he's doing, why did they trade Army or why did they send this guy down or that guy. It's fun to see everyone's ideas and shoot when I was growing up we did the same thing about the Wings ....... and they were winning Stanley Cups.

Marc Crawford does not command respect. It doesn't matter what talent you have if the players don't want to play for the coach. With Andy, the talent was also young, but he commanded respect and was able to get a crippled team with wins. So, stop the bleeding and get a whole new coaching staff that can command respect with these very talented young players.
