FINAL...Coyotes 4, Kings 1
Shane Doan scored into an empty net with 42.9 seconds remaining. Anyone expecting, or hoping, to see some great fire and spirit from the Kings in the third period probably feels very disappointed right now. Phoenix outshot the Kings 14-8 in that period and 39-29 for the game. It was the second-highest shot-on-goal total of the season for the Coyotes, who entered the game with the fewest goals scored in the NHL.
So, it's another step backward for the Kings, after Monday's half step forward. The Kings have 22 points in 27 games. Last season? They had 22 points in 27 games.
What else is there to say? Read the Crawford story. It's more interesting than anything this game had to offer.
the question is, who goes first?
or did that already happen [Preissing]?
i'm not even mad tonight for some reason...
maybe i finally feel like the team looks night after night...
Embarassing. It's hard to believe that this team could be this bad again, with better players. What's even harder to believe is that, somehow, this team has 10 wins. Now that's a surprise.
This is the most backwards team I've ever pulled for.
First and foremost, why was Preissing signed to a 4 year contract. He's done nothing to deserve being scratched. I mean, last year in Ottawa he was a Plus 40. Wonder if he's being written off already.
Anf if Crawford is so in love with Klemm, that his presence was so needed. Why did he only play 1:46.
Go figure.
I still don't understand why they sent down Moulson instead of Klemm. And why Gauthier was a scratch today when he was just recently recalled. I mean if you're not gonna play him, let him stay with the Monarchs so he can play and better develope his game.
And even though Cammi scored today, IN AN EMPTY NET, I notice that line hasn't been playing well together. Kopitar at times seemed invisible. I don't know what Sully did to be demoted from that line. Maybe Cammi had more to do with that than Crawford.
The best player today was Sully, BY FAR. He's often the best player on the ice that doesn't score. He had a couple of unlucky breaks with shots being blocked.
I can't wait until Crawford starts playing him on the PP. You'll probably start seeing more production from him.
He deserves that chance, but I don't think Crawford will give him that chance without first getting permission from Armstrong and the other glorious veterans.
What a disgrace. No effort whatsoever.
You give a great effort against Edmonton and do a complete 180 2 nights later.
I give in. Get rid of Crawford. I can understand having peaks and valleys but this is goddamn ridiculous. They can't put 2 friggin games back to back.
You have to chuckle when the best line offensively was Army, Willsie, and Nagy. the only problem is the 3 are so offensively challenged, that they have no shot to score.
As far as Handzus...Panger said it perfectly tonight. he's not know as a goal scorer, but 0 points in 10 games is not getting it done.
Defensively all were invisible.
FIRE CRAWFORD NOW!!!!!!!!!!
It's almost like losses are expected nowadays. It's been so long since I've watched the puck drop and think "Yeah, we can win this", now it's more like "Do we even have a chance of winning?" and often times the answer is no.
It's so depressing that this franchise just can't get it right. Players that are _allegedly_ good come to the Kings and nearly immediately disappoint and don't produce and youngsters who should be great have no veterans worth listening to to psychologically protect them from repeated losses or difficult times.
Perhaps it's time to clean house again, starting with Crawford.
this is pathetic.......we need a golie.....new coach.....i dont know DL needs to shakes things up before its too late...for the love of god pls
I found myself channel surfing to other games. Pittsburgh had a good comeback against Edmonton. Ducks were outplaying Buffalo.
I hope no one shows up at the game tomorrow. Why would people want to see them?
I just wish this was happening next year, so the Kings could sraft Tavares. But they would just lose the Darft Lottery anyways, so who cares. I'm not even getting worked up about these games anymore. I guess I'm getting used to the poor play.
I forgot to add FIRE CRAWFORD.
Dean Lombardi,
This team aint going anywhere with MC behind the bench. I'm a little hesitant about giving the reigns to D.Lewis, he was subpar in Boston, so bring in someone new. I dont know who, but just get rid of Crawford.
HEY RICH I LOVE YOUR BLOG. Based on your experiences covering the kings and your interactions with DL and other people form within the kings org. What do you think will happen to this team from here on out? I was thinking before that the kings are looking to pick someone up. though, i haven't checked cap space or anything like that in awhile. Anyways, please give us some inspiring words or maybe a prediction or something, anything =)
I blame Klemm. He should have done more with that minute 40 seconds of ice time he saw. Wonder what the message being sent to Preissing is?
All the things that are wrong with this team are magnified by the fact that there are about 100 or so fans that actually CARE. The other 12,000 bodies that may actually attend these games are content to get a chance at a t-shirt shot out of a toy gun, or perhaps get their infant's mug on the Dumbotron, or worse yet, cheer Bailey or those moronic drummers.
This blog has put into perspective the overall picture. AEG doesn't give a rat's ass about the product on the ice, claiming to support Lombardi, who has clearly lost touch with reality, by allowing this mess to perpetuate on a game by game basis. Dude, you're not only the GM, you're the face of the entire organization. Wake the fuck up and realize that it is PAINFUL to watch this crap game in and game out. You have a moron coach who has not got much out of the talent you've assembled, and you claim this is talent, so... who's to blame here? You have below average NHL goaltending, and although people say the goaltending has been "good," trust me, it's not "good enough."
The fish stinks from the head down... You have to take some responsibility and be accountable to the people who pay your salary, and keep the concessions flowing.
I have suffered with this team for well over 30 years, and frankly, this could be the worst yet.
Thanks, asshole.
There is something going on inside of this team....
This team is crowded with old players that are fighting for ice time and chasing production, but they don't get the opportunity because the opportunity was given to the young players. The oldies struggle to find their place on the team.... maybe it's a mental thing...maybe they were promised different role on the team when they signed that’s why they struggle…..
They do play hard and to their capabilities!!!!
But once you don't have it in you, you don't have it…..
This team is going to be better this year than last year, maybe from 68 points to 75 points……unless there is going to be a trade that will turn things around…..
GO Kings GO
The thing that amazes me is how almost everyone except DL can see that Crow just isn't the coach for this team. DL is supposed to be a fairly intelligent man, or so it's been thought.
P.S. Now you have this NEW Crawford mess on your hands. A little background check prior to handing this clown a FIVE YEAR DEAL might have avoided being thrust into the media in the most negative way possible. But, you're also the guy who gave Cloutier an extension before the first beachball flew between his legs. Gave Michal Handzus four years at over 4 million a year to kill penalties. Gave Derek Armstrong a new contract that overpaid him by about twice what he's getting paid, when you knew he'd be a 4th line center (in terms of value and potential.) Gave Lubomir Visnovsky 28 million dollars to play on the wrong side and shut down his game. Gave Rob Blake two years at over 6 million a year to sun himself and throw 3 checks in a season and a third.
God, this sucks!
For all of you O'Sullivan nutswingers .. Anthony...why is it this kid refuses to use a wrist-shot? Every quality chance he gets to look at the net, he looks down, winds up and fires a slapper. WTF? Jesus, I've been playing recreational roller-hockey for 10 years, and I know that when you have those opportunities, pick a hole and fire a wrister!! You think that has something to do with why he's only got like 4 goals?
Oh, and BTW, FIRE CRAWFORD! Good thing we got rid of Murray, how are those Blues doing anyways? Thanks, bye.
I forgot to mention, in case I already haven't before, good think Lombardi passed up on Bryzgalov. Yeah, our goaltending is fine...just like last year.
Seeing the new story on Crawford got me thinking...maybe if he pulls that same stunt the next time the Kings play Anaheim, yet uses the word 'Neidermeyer' rather than 'Moore'....just maybe the Ducks won't be winning the cup this year.
This is what we Kings fans have lowered ourselves to. One more thing, FIRE CRAWFORD! thanks, bye.
Guy's be patient. We're going through the pains of rebuilding. DL is going to stack this club so deep with draft picks that we won't have to worry about signing anymore veteran players. Think about it, the more seasons we tank the better shot at all those tastey number 1 draft picks we get! Draft for the future! In 3 years we'll be in the same boat, DL will get canned, the kings will come out of nowhere into the playoff spotlight and some other poor shmuck team will get DL. He'll explain to those fans how he drafted all these great players and how that lead to 4 trades between 7 teams
that turned the Kings into a force to be reckoned with. It will be the same song and dance we got when he came to LA. Ha! take that stupid shmuck team!
And don't be so hard on Crow. All he needs is a good group of superstars or even a multi national All Star team like he had in Colorado. A group so talented that they are not in need of a coach, but in need of someone to play pranks on when traveling.
Now if you can just make yourself believe all of this, it makes watching this season slip away a little less painful.
Not even going to comment on the game or situation think all has been said that needs or could be said. Just wanted to quickly reply to Ryan who said he wishes that we sucked next year and not this year. It has been stated a few times but there were polls a while back and more scouts would take Stamkos than Tavares and just about as many scouts would take Doughty as Tavares. I also believe Stamkos is a lot better fit for our team. Much rather have an all-around guy with amazing shut-down skills.
The guy that hates crawford must have missed the overtime in the EDM game when Osullivan was an inch away from winning the game with a wrist shot from the wing off the post.
I just hope the kings show up tommorow night, and it would be really cool to see Quick start in net.
Sorry, 5 4 Fighting, but if you think Crow is a coach that is liked by his players, ask any journalist who has access to his past "successes" in Colorado and Vancouver and you will get far more negative than positive. This has been documented in the past, and will be documented in the future when former King players have a chance to reflect on their time under this regieme. You probably won't hear them say anything publicly right now, but the sentiment about this guy is NOT positive.
I was at the game last night and have a few comments. Poor effort. Handzus is the worst player that I've ever seen. I can't believe that he got so much ice time. He makes my adult league guys look like superstars. At least they're trying.
Phoenix came out hitting and playing physical. The Kings did not. They are soft. Dallman looked overmatched but seemed to put in alot of effort. Jack Johnson has so much potential but made some real bone head plays. The first goal by PHX was all his. I can't wait for Ivanins face to heal. Doan needs a lesson after that hit after the buzzer in the first.
Thank godness for All You Can Eat nights at the Staple Center.
i would like to expand on Marc Nathans's last thought...
"Thanks asshole(s)"
every last one of you in the organization.
wake up.
And the worst part about it is... guess who's "December" on my Kings Calender this month!? Yep, Crawford... with his smug look. Although he does look better now that I drew a mustache and devil ears on him!
If all you can eat nights at staples center keep the garlic fries by the smoking section out of operation I am going to be very upset.
The Kings are like a bad movie... that keeps playing over and over again. The cast and characters might change, but the plot and the ending are always the same. Once in a while the story deviates and gets interesting but reverts back to a sick and tired formula...
This is about the time in the movie where the underperforming young players are traded for so-called veterans in a desperate move to get some credibility... Only to see those very same young players blossom with other teams.
Then the vets end up worse than the young players and then they are gone in the off season.
The movie ends with a shot of the sun rising.. a dawn of a new day... with new players, new management.. No goaltending...
Load the next reel and watch the same movie again.. except we fall for it everytime.
Let me see if I have Pat Quinn's phone number, I know he's wanting to coach some more.
