Kings lose 4-2

Smyth doesn't take so much as a hard hit. Notes and quotes from the locker room to come.

good 3rd period i guess, still gotta be consistent throughout. Crawford coach a little, PLZ. Tell morons like Visnovsky and Modry to play defense. And Giuliano great energy out there. Handzus Thornton great game guys. Well mainly in the 3rd but whatever. I'm going to the game in January against Toronto, show me something of my money's worth, i went to that Buff game but still consistency is problem. Since we played a great 3rd period, the next games we should lose, you know. Labs great job between the pipes, if Aubin was in net 6-2 Final.

It's more than just bad coaching, players have to be held accountable as well.
When I watch other NHL games on my Center Ice package, I notice other games are more fluid. The passes are crisp, tape to tape, it's more end to end hockey with plenty of out numbered attacks. And shots fired are more accurate.
With the Kings, it's just not there. Kings have very few out numbered attacks. When they take their shots, its either shot wide or blacked. There always seems to be a stick in the shooters face. And the pases are just terrible. Instead of passing the puck tape to tape, its passed either behind the player or passed at their skate, or the pass is just simply missed. Also, other teams just cycle the puck around in the kings zone at will, while the king players chase them blindly.

The team just plays sloppy. I'ts just not there.

Now full 3 points out of 29th place. Worst team in the league and Crow still talks about the infinitesimal difference between winning and losing. It'll seem a lot bigger when he LOSES HIS JOB.

The title of this post should read " Kings lose, I'm gonna make a sandwich."

It's not solely DL's, MC's, or the players' fault. It's all of them together.

DL: thank you for assembling an excellent women's olympic hockey team. Now go get someone of the male gender who weighs more than 175 pounds soaking wet and who is willing and able to dish out a pounding for a fallen teammate. Oh, and your free agent signings all suck.

MC: your team does not play consistently for you, and does not show up every game. Lack of talent notwithstanding, isn't it your job to make sure they are prepared and give their all in every game?

Lubo: what happened to you?

Nagy: don't hurry back. We wouldn't want you to push it too hard or anything.

Modry: see your various nicknames by all of my creative fellow Kings fans.

All players: grow up, become men, defend each other, show up, earn your money, honor the fans who pay their hard earned money to watch you after they worked hard all day, and have some pride you losers.

After tonight I KNOW that crawford should be fired...there's no longer a debate about "rebuilding" or any of that other sh*t

All of us watching that game noticed how the kings NEVER fully controlled the puck for more than 20 or 30 seconds.... even in much of that "great" third period. So WHY would dipsh*t pull the goaltender with 2 minutes knowing the kind of game that was just played??!?!?!

he's an idiot. any high school football coach will tell you, you don't go for it on 4th down if your offense sucks...punt the godamn thing

I'm going to try and say this again a different way...

Kings fans are JUST as inconsistent as their team. "It's not solely DL's, MC's, or the players' fault. It's all of them together." Now I'm not only picking on NL, I've seen this s**t before. You can't change everything, therefore you must change the part that will impact this team the most.

GET THIS STRAIGHT: Your GM does not coach the team. He gives the team to the coach to make his picks work.

Your players are DIRECTED and MOTIVATED by the planning of your coaches.

Changing your GM will solve absolutely NONE of the issues we have right now. It will only lead to delay the development of this team EVEN FURTHER, which is what I'm sure we all want.....

Trading one, two, or even 3 players will only address small parts of our issues and will send the wrong message to the rest of our players. It's not the PP or the PK or forechecking or even goaltending that is the major issue...IT IS CONTINUITY! That is not a player issue unless one or two players are disrupting it, which is clearly not the case here.

FIRE MARC CRAWFORD! You want to send a message to your team, show them you are addressing your leadership issue properly. players can only do so much. Guys in this room are struggling to find why they can't play for 60 minutes. Maybe it's the constant confusion created by the line changes? Remember Anthony's mention of the passing issue? That is a DIRECT RESULT of not knowing where your linemates are going to be. Positional play is NOT the holy grail of offensive production, that 6th sense of knowing where your linemates set up goes a long way in producing goals. If you are constantly playing with different linemates in different positions, this will not happen. Just look at the Smyth-Stasny-Hejduk line. I can't begin to count the no-look and touch passes these 3 create amongst each other. They KNOW where each other is by INSTINCT from playing together every night. THAT is why they're effective. WE DON'T HAVE THAT!!!!!

For the last time, Yes, DL, MC and the players are all problems....BUT THE BIGGEST ONE IS CRAWFORD BY FAR! Focus on the one thing that can create the biggest ripple and put all of your efforts there.

Otherwise, We as Kings fans are no different than our team right now.

Confused, indecisive, changing excuses like Crawford changes lines, looking for the longest straw that will bail us out.

One thing at a time. START WITH MARC CRAWFORD AND LETS MOVE ON PLEASE!!!!!!

I'm betting Crawford doesn't last to the end of the season.

Any ideas on who's next?

I'm betting (hoping, actually) Crawford doesn't last to the end of the year. :P

More to the point, your weird agenda (Matt) about dishing out retaliation on Ryan Smyth is both bizarre and as childish as the people who posted on message boards about "getting" Andy Sutton when he injured Jason Allison back when the team was actually reasonably good.

You seemed to think it would happen. Personally, I never thought it was even a possibility.

I often say something to the effect of "you can't hit something you can't catch." The Kings are not in the class of teams like the Avs, and certainly not able to "retaliate" in any kind of meaningful fashion.

FIRE CRAWFORD!!!!!!!!!!!!

What was he thinking last night putting Thornton on the top line with Kopitar and Brown? I guess he's earned his spot with his 3 points this year. Its no wonder that line had its worst game.

TJ said:

If Brown and Zeiler are going to hit anything in sight on the ice (and they should), we need to have someone out on the ice to fight and defend the consequences. Thorton is are only player able and willing to do the job since Blake took out Ivanans with his accurate vetern slapshot and we traded Avery to the Rangers.

Paincorp: Regarding your post above, I was identifying problems, not prescribing solutions. Had you asked, I would have recommended the exact thing that you did: firing Crawford. As you implied, the fact that all parties (players, coaches, GM) are guilty in this mess doesn't mean we can get rid of all of them. Canning Crawford is the best way to send the message to the team that crappy play has serious consequences.

I am not sure how my identification of various problems makes me "inconsistent"... Even if Crawford gets fired, the players (and DL) have to look in the mirror and realize that they had a part in causing this. Anyway, the only reason I look on message boards like this anymore is in hopes of seeing news of a shakeup in Kings land, whether a firing or a big trade.
