beat me too it - I had just copied the text and came back to post it...wow!

1st thought is there is a difference between "pay the price" and sucker punch someone from behind and end there career....

wow, thats probably why he doesn't want the kings to play rough, probably doesn't want to risk any retaliatory action when his players are pounded on, i.e. LaBarbera.

crawford is a little bitch thats all i have to say

Todd Bertuzzi said:

I am a douchebag. Enough said.

I agree with the above post. Saying that a player must "pay the price" and "hey Bert, I want you to attack that guy from behind and break his f'n neck" are just a little different. I can completely believe that Crow would have advocated a beat down, but that isn't at all what occured

I think that the guys above are correct. He didn't say to go maim the guy for life.

He obviously didn't say anything of the sort after Labs got taken out, or the Kings don't have anyone with sand to even check the guy a few times.

I agree. This is hockey. Or at least it was until he got to LA and changed it to an ice dancing competition.
Leave it to the lawyers to take that statement and completely misinterpret it.

I wonder if this character assasination is finally gonna get him fired.

Does this mean Ryan Smyth is in danger? Smyth must pay the price!

so whos going to be our new coach when Crawford goes to jail ?

Paincorp said:

This explains why he is so gunshy about telling his guys to play tough. Maybe he thinks his players are all 'hard-headed' Hanson brother types like Bertuzzi and would take his words the wrong way as he did.

Who the hell knows. Get rid of him and let's get a coach who won't be afraid to make his players stand up for each other. I don't think we have any 'mentally challenged' players on our team like Crow did a few years back. Tell Crow to take his baggage and go on a trip with it.

I'm sick of:

- The lack of leadership

- The lack of team continuity

- The lack of wins (ie LOSING)

Dean, I've had enough of this crap. DO SOMETHING! FIRE THESE GUYS UP! Fire Crow, trade for leadership, REACT AND SEND A DAMN MESSAGE!!

Do I need to say 'Please' after waiting 14 years for a follow up to '93?

Smyth, Pronger, the visting team's towel boy and Lubo must pay the price!

I don't understand how Bertuzzi is even playing in the NHL. Friggin McSorley was booted out of the league and because tap on Brasheer's nugget.

5 4 Fighting said:

that was supposed to read as:
Because of a tap on Brasheer's nugget

I agree that the penalty wasn't harsh enough, but Marty retired before even trying to come back. They gave him the rest of the season and would have probably been part of the next one.

The guy that cost us the Sanley Cup in 1993 was of retirement age.

Someone said:

Just to clarify...

Marty was 'advised' by Bettman to retire.

I'm very shocked that a reputable organization like TSN would run such a sensationalistic headline. Stating that someone must "pay the price" is in no way ordering a hit of the caliber of what Bertuzzi did. "Paying the price" is one of those almost meaningless hockey phrases. Every coach has said that about an opponent, it doesn't mean "go and try to paralyze the guy".
