Smyth poll

Will Ryan Smyth "pay the price" tonight?
Yes. He better watch his back.
No. Smyth doesn't deserve any retaliation.
No. Crawford is wary of more controversy after the Bertuzzi allegations.
No. The players don't want to do anything that could lead to them being embarrassed in a fight again

Sorry to say that little to nothing will be done to Smyth. The KINGS don't really have that "goon" type player that is needed for these types of paybacks......Remember when McSorely (sp) was a KING, he would have taken care of it right when it happened. I just don't see any King capable of taking care of this......just my opinion..

He looks too much like a girl to harm. Except for that banana on his ugly face.

Smyth SHOULD have to watch his back tonight, but there is no one on the Kings' roster that will make him think twice about it. This team definitely needs more toughness, which is not necessarily the same thing as fighting.

...remember when McSorely lost us Lord Stanley's Cup??!

I agree that nothing will be done to Smyth. I see the Kings pehaps trying to take the body a little more but nothing in retaliation frame of mind. I feel Smyth knows that a grudge is in the air, so he'll want to draw a penalty instead.

We're currently the worst team in the league, how much more embarrassed can they be.

We could sure use Ivanans tonight. He's the only guy on the team who's capable of fighting and winning. How much longer does he have to wear the mask?
I wouldn't mind seeing him chuck the helmet and kick Smyth's a$$.

Paul said:

As long as Ivanans can't fight, nothing will happen to Smyth. The Kings are just too soft.

Which brings me to a request for a poll that I'd really like to see the results of:

Should Marc Crawford be fired?

Earlier in the season I advocated for Crawford because of his past successes and because I expected some improvement by the Kings this year.

Now it's becoming clear that the Kings will struggle to even match last year's point total.

So that being the case, I'm curious to see how many other readers of this blog, besides Anthony, would agree that it's time for a coaching change?

Nobody stepped up and did anything when it happened, why would they care a month later? The Kings are the softest team in the league so Smyth has nothing to worry about. In fact, the entire Colorado team can rest easy because they are playing a bunch of pansies with the worst record in the league. But hey Kopitar is really good.

I had a dream we had Wade Belak on the team for some reason. I was so happy.

Maverick said:

Uhh... that would be Ivanans, he is just out right now because he took that puck in the face so he can't fight which makes it absolutely pointless for him to be in the lineup.

Jordan said:

It should say "...their being embarrassed in a fight again."

Remember to use the possessive before a gerund.

Eric K said:

yeah, i don't expect to see more than either brown or zeiler trying to hit him hard. ivanans picked the wrong time to lose his fighting ability.

Dan H. said:

I wonder why Ivanans is even in the lineup. He can't fight, he has to take it somewhat easy, he's not mobile and he has stone hands in front of the net.

Why not call up a scrappy player from manchester to come up and bang the boards some?

Oh and I'm on the fire Crawford bandwagon as well. I think DL should be able to have his 4 years because rolling over now isn't a good idea and he has an eye for the young talent, it's his free agent aquisitions that suck.

Well my vote was right...Softest Kings team ever. Even Sean O'Donnell has more guts--remember when he took Courtnall's head off in the playoffs (yes, I remember what happened after that, but I don't think Smyth would turtle like that so now it'd be different).

Naturallawyer,
Ummmmm.........bad example! You might as well have mentioned the Bertuzzi/Moore incident too.

Hockeygirl said:

Me and Jase want to know what in the world the 284 of you who voted "watch your back" are smoking. What a joke. I can hit harder than those guys or at least I got a sharper tongue. When I say jump, my men say HOW HIGH. Now put that action into beating on Ryan Smyth he's yucky. Go Conroy.

Naturallawyer said:

How is the OD thing remotely close to the Bertuzzi thing? OD wasn't suspended for his actions, and Courtnall knew he was coming. If anything, it was akin to Claude Lemiuex's turtle incident. Courtnall completely ran the goalie and OD took care of business. Nobody on this team could do the same.

Here are couple of poll questions I'd like to ask:

Which of our prospects do you want to see up here with the current roster if possible?

1. Jonathan Bernier
2. Wayne Simmonds
3. Brian Boyle
4. Ted Purcell
5. Brady Murray

Another question would be:

Which of the past kings do you think would have the most positive impact on our team?

1.Sean Avery
2.George Parros
3.Ian Laperrier
4.Tom Kostopolous
