RICH HAMMOND

Rich Hammond has covered the Kings, on a full-time or part-time basis, since the 2000-01 season. He was the beat writer for the entire John Torchetti era and has witnessed Bob Miller singing country music in a Nashville honky-tonk bar. A native of Los Angeles, Rich has worked at the Daily News since 1999 and also serves as the paper's deputy sports editor.

Thornton activated

He missed seven games with a bruised sternum. Of course, he's missed more games than that as a healthy scratch.

can we just waive this guy already, he's a waste of a jersey, a waste of an "A" that should be given to Brown... I can't stand when Daryl Evans describe him as a 'physical veteran forward' because this guy is absolutely worthless... he can't hit, he won't hit when he's got the chance, he won't fight, he backs down from oportunities to be an intimidating force... why can't we put Zeiler into Thornton's body frame? jezz,,, imagine having moulson or purcell up here in his place... imagine giving his 'A' to Brown, a player who doesnt get scratched every other game, a player who actually inspires his teammates....
