Three Kings selected
Three Kings prospects -- Jonathan Bernier, Thomas Hickey and Wayne Simmonds -- have been selected to represent Canada in the World Junior Championships, which start Dec. 26. It's quite an accomplishment for one team to have three of the 22 players on the team, and a real solid boost for Bernier, who was left off last year's Canada team and who has struggled a bit in juniors after his departure from the Kings. Also, Oscar Moller will represent Sweden. The rosters are made up of non-NHL players under age 20. By the way, if anyone knows if/how these games can be viewed online, please let me know!
Rich,
If you have NHL Center Ice, they generally show the Canada and US games.
That is awesome that we have so many prospects there this year. Last World Juniors there was someone on letsgokings.com who lived in Canada had a live stream of the games going for us pathetic Americans =P I don't know if he will do it again this year.
Rich,
Maybe you can ask your tech guru's if they can apply some circumvention technology to your servers. Then you can watch them online:

Wow! I checked tsn.ca for the list of players that made the team and also to see who got cut and I am surprised and impressed by the players that didn't make it or were just beat out by Hickey and Simmonds. Bernier wasn't a shock, but I am surprised Leland Irving wasn't the second goalie. Go Kings go!!
The games are usually broadcast on center ice, so if you have center ice online, I am sure you can get them. If not, canadian viewers can probably watch on TSN.ca's website while US viewers should check the tournament website. Anyone else have knowledge??
For those that criticize DL’s drafting, all 3 players he picked in the first two rounds of the ’07 draft will play for their national junior teams (Hickey, Moller, Simmonds). Guys that didn’t make the Canadian team included players ranked higher than Hickey by some “experts” (e.g. Ellerby and Esposito). A number of the other Canadian cuts are first round picks – picked way ahead of Simmonds (last pick of the second round at #61). Simmonds wasn’t on any of the pre-draft selection list that I saw. The kid gets an extra-long look at the Kings training camp, gets into a few exhibition games, and now makes the Canadian junior team. Impressive!!
I know for a fact that www.TSN.ca streams the games live from their website each year, just not sure if they are available to you guys in the USA.
Gary Bettman was on XM today and said they are in negotiations with IIHF to televise the tournament on the NHL Network.
Wish they were all available to play on this team.
I don't understand, with 2 offensive players on the IR (fro & Nagy) why aren't we calling up a goal scoorer like Purcell.
Instead, our brilliant G.M. opts for Guiliano.
I say, recall Matt Moulson, Teddy Purcell, & Brian Boyle. And trash Ivanans, Thornton & Zeiler.
I guarantee, you'll see some improvement in the standings.
Fire Lombardi already, I'm sick of watching this _hit.
no idea re: online, probably TSN's site, but center ice subscribers will be able to watch all the games on CI.
All the Canadian games will most likely be on TSN broadband.
Bettman said today on XM radio that they were in negotiations to get the rights to televise the games.
Now you have to have the NHL channel or probably center ice to view it, but who doesn't have that!
:)
Rich,
I have watched World Junior games on tsn.ca at work before so I would imagine they would be showing them again.
Great to see such solid representation on that team. Hopefully that bodes well for the Kings' future.
As for the WJHC, TSN.ca says all the games -- with the exception of the Dec. 29th Slovakia/Czech Republic game -- will be simulcast on TSN broadband. From my experience with the network's CFL telecasts, anyone can view the games. The schedule is posted at http://www.tsn.ca/world_jrs/feature/?fid=4124
Rich,
I believe these games have been shown as part of the Center Ice package in the past. Hopefully that will be the case this year because this really is an awesome tournament.
It seems like just yesterday that Mike Cammalleri and Alexander Frolov had great WJC tournaments.
anthony is a bitter, bitter man.
Rich,
As someone pointed out on the previous string, can you ask Mr. Crawford why he doesn't try O'Sullivan at his natural position - Center?
Also, prior to tonights game, the Kings have 89 goals, second most in their division and 6th in the Western Conference. Goals against, they are dead last. So, do the line changes affect that? Obviously, the teams troubles are all about the D and the Goalie.
yeah simmonds! good to see that... too bad it comes in between losses.
JD, very impressive! HF has had the Kings as the #1 org for prospects since May. When some of these current contracts start running out (Nagy, Thornton, Willsie) next year, we will start seeing these young guys.
People shouldn't be counting Mason out. He missed due to injury last year. If Bernier slips mason may grab the #1 spot and run with it.
Im gonna be really disappointed if you guys get my hopes up for the games being on center ice only to have them dashed away like my dream of Osullivan taking cammy's spot on the first line.
