RICH HAMMOND

Rich Hammond has covered the Kings, on a full-time or part-time basis, since the 2000-01 season. He was the beat writer for the entire John Torchetti era and has witnessed Bob Miller singing country music in a Nashville honky-tonk bar. A native of Los Angeles, Rich has worked at the Daily News since 1999 and also serves as the paper's deputy sports editor.

Another early deficit

and another bad bounce. Robyn Regehr took a long-range slap shot and it shattered Raitis Ivanans' stick near the point of the shot, redirecting it past LaBarbera. He never saw the puck and didn't move as it went past him. This is after the Kings missed two opportunities at an open net in the first minute. Looking a lot like how last game ended.

And now it's 2-0 less than four minutes in. Derek Armstrong blocked a shot from Owen Nolan but the puck went right to Daymond Langkow, who cleaned it up for his 15th goal of the season.
