Cammy's injury more serious

Michael Cammalleri's rib injury is more like Jason LaBarbera's than previously thought. When Cammalleri hurt his ribs Dec. 22 in Nashville, he thought it was just a bruise. He even tried to skate before the next game but knew as soon as he got on the ice that he couldn't go. Now the Kings are saying the injury is a cartilage strain.

``It's more like LaBarbera's injury,'' Crawford said. ``If anything, it's a little deeper. He's doing two treatments a day and getting as much exercise as he can in the limited things he can do. It's a slow-to-heal injury because, when you have those cartilage types of problems, it affects everything you do from breathing to moving.''

Cammalleri will miss his fifth consecutve game tonight against Columbus and isn't yet ready to set any timeframe on his return.

``Initially, I was hoping I could play right away,'' Cammalleri said. ``After trying a little bit, obviously it hasn't been that way.''

LaBarbera missed two weeks of play with his injury early last month.

``It sounds like from talking to him it’s similar to what I had,'' LaBarbera said. ``I know what he’s going through. It’s pretty painful. Hopefully he can get better because we need him back. I would imagine being hit probably wouldn’t feel that good. For me, it was more about twisting and being more flexible. For him, battling in corner and being strong on the puck is a big part of his game. If it's in the back of his mind that his ribs aren’t 100 percent, I'm sure it would affect his play.''

So what do think? Cammie goes down and the teams starts playing better??

Like Anthony said, Sully is kicking ass and deserves to be in the #1 line because he is playing better.

I say let him take his time healing but Cammie should fight for that spot again from the back of the line just like everyone else..

Cammalleri had 34 goals and 46 assists to lead the entire team in scoring last year. His PLUS 5 was third highest on the team. He's on pace for over 30 goals this year. Fans like you guys are the reason this is year 41 of ineptitude. overrated clap clap clap clap clap? NOPE. LAST PLACE clap clap clap clap clap.

are you guys serious? cammalleri still has the best shot on the team, and the team is better with him in the lineup, period.

maybe not having cammo is helping the rest of the team develop and learn to assert themselves, but i'd still rather have him in the lineup than not have him in the lineup.

Throw him under a truck.
BTW, Sully has a better shot.

Unbelievable said:

Sully's shot is better? LOL! It's gotta be cause he gets so much practice. He's taken 122 shots and connected on a whopping 8%. And that isn't even counting the number of times he's shot the puck inton the Allstate sign on the boards. Get a clue. Call me when O'Sullivan has a 34 goal season and is plus 5 on a last place team.

Also count the number of times Sully has hit the post and the crossbar.
Get a clue yourself.
Sully (22) has scored more goals than Cammi (25) did in their first two seasons.
Lets see what happens in the next 3 years when Sully is 25 and Cammi's on another team.

Like I said, call me when O'Sullivan has an 80 point, 34 goal season, leads the Kings in scoring and has the 3rd highest plus minus. Until then you need to take the bus to Shuttytown.

That's it. Coming back with something already stated earlier.
Time for you to leave your trailer, clear the trash, and get a GED.
Hey, did you happen to catch Sully score a goal and get an assist. Nothing clever to say now. I thought so.

Cammalleri is a selfish player who shoots the puck every time he has it (obviously hyperbole, but not far from the truth). He is far from a team guy and the Kings are better without him. They should trade him and bring in some quality guys and picks to replace his worthless ass. I have never been a fan of his and now seeing Kopi and Brown play so much better on a line with Sully just makes me realize even more how little the Kings need Cammalleri.

Guys, can we agree that having two potential 30 goal scorers in the lineup is better than one?

The thing that people should be pissed about is that Cammy, one of the smallest guys on the ice had to stick up for Anze after a semi cheapshot. There should be someone on the team that can stand up for the skill players besides Ivanans who can't catch up to them.

I give Cammy credit for getting in there but you can't have your top goal scorer scrapping in corners with guys twice his size.

THAT is what has me pissed off.

One of the main principles of building a team is that you have guys who are ready to step in when a top player goes down to injury. (O'Sullivan) steps up and fills the role that was vacated until (Cammalleri) comes back. Then when you get everybody in you have your top 6. And you didn't have to push the panic button and trade for some has been.

Was I the only one thinking that an injury was going to have to happen before some secondary guys got going? When you have injuries, it becomes a necessity for a guy like Nagy to play well. If he has 2 bad shifts Crow can't just bench him, there aren't enough other options.

My opinion of Crawford is going to hinge on whether or not Nagy and O'Sullivan stay hot after Cammalleri comes back. Everybody clicking at the same time is something I haven't seen from this team in 27 years.

Finally, I'd like to say that if you find yourself using words like "garbage" or "crap" to refer to players who just happen to be going through a slump or trying to play through severe pain, you might need to look in the mirror and figure out what's wrong in your own life. And certainly don't flatter yourselves that you know better than the GM.

Love,
Goon Squad
