Harrold assigned to Manchester

| | Comments (28) |

We hardly knew ye, huh? Peter Harrold spent one game inactive with the big club and he is sent back down. I suppose this means that Dallman will be ready to serve in a reserve role beginning Friday. I don't know why Dean wouldn't have just called up Klemm if he wanted a one-game emergency backup.

What the hell. Can somebody explain to me the logic behind this.
I mean it wasn't like the team didn't have 6 healthy D-men.
Unless DL intended to use Harrold in the pressbox in place of Dallman.
Go figure.

Marc Nathan said:

because once he (Klemm) has spent 30 days on the NHL roster, he is waiver eligible, and you know there are 29 GMs circling the drain waiting for the Kings to accidentally expose the mighty Klemm!

Deelo said:

Geez Anthony, we only had the bare minimum of healthy dmen on our road trip was in Canada and it was insurance in case someone got hurt. It is a long way from Manchester to Western Canada.

This just tells me that Dallman was ready to play and that the insurance was no longer needed. Stop jumping on every little mundane transaction so fast.

On another note, SHAME ON AEG for their new telemarketing tactic. I'll assume it was because I sent a text to the board wishing someone happy birthday.

They haven't done it in years past. I can get the stupid flier for your advertisement after every game walking out the door.

To bother my cell phone in this manner really ticks me off and AEG should be ashamed for stooping to this ridiculous low.

maybe just to give Harrold another taste of what its like to be up in the NHL. Or was he even in the building?

laikaloco said:

The Kings had only six healthy bodies on D for the Oiler game. Harrold has a game in Rockford tonite...if Dallman is still a no-go for Friday, Harrold probably will be back.

Paul said:

LOL. You never know Marc. The Leafs did claim Domanic Moore.

Oh. Wait. It was the Leafs. Never mind. :D

Yo Deelo,
We also had the bare minimum of healthy forwards, 12. Wlisie is now on the IR.
I didn't see our G.M. call up a forward.
Right now as it stands, our team only has 20 healthy players and no reserves.

A couple of thoughts:
1) AEG isn't the only one with the telemarketing, the Rangers & MSG do it (also b/c of texting the scoreboard). Booo

2) The more I think about it, the more I like Deano. The New NHL seems all about finding young talent and locking them up for a long time and rolling the dice. The old Kings management (pre-Taylor) would never be able to do well and develop young kids. We'd probably look like the Rangers frankly chasing high priced free agents and be constrained under a salary cap.

If there's one good thing about The Process right now it's that I can see a constant strong nucleus of Brownie, Sully, KopiStar, Cammy, JMFJ, Frolov, LuboCookie and now maybe Purcell, Weekend at Bernier, and Hickey developing

With role players and maybe the occasional opportunistic free agent
That's a pretty awesome nucleus to watch for the next 4-5 years.

Losing sucks, but knowing you're gonna be stuck in mediocrity for the next half decade would have sucked even more.

Well, then, I'm curious did Harrold even travel to Alberta or was this just a paper transaction? I guess if he plays in Rockford we'll know. Didn't I see pics of him at practice?

CHECK OUT MY SITE, HIT THE RIBBON THANK YOU FOR LAST NIGHT'S ANALYSIS

AEG sent me a questionnaire. I bought my tickets online through Ticketmaster. They wanted to know how I enjoyed my experience attending the Leafs/Kings game. I had a good time, but I did have one complaint. The wife and I bring radios to listen as we watch the game. Usually its the Fox feed and we get Bob and Foxy. Course the leaf game was blacked out. So The radio boys were transmitting. We do have good Sony radios but for some reason there was a low buss. Was hard to hear the play by play. So I let AEG have it about that. I bet they will do something about that in the future....

maybe the kings were about to ship off one of blake stuart or modry and needed an xtra dman available just in case.

thats just what id like to think happened though.

Anthony- Purcell, a forward, was called up along with Harrold.

Of course he would have been at the arena...would have been useless in the event of illness otherwise.

Anthony:

There would be a forward recalled to Calgary on Friday IF they are in that position, I'm sure. Having seen Manchester's last game, I'm guessing Murray, Moulson or Tukonen...provided there are no waiver issues. Otherwise I'll bet they risk Zeiler and his four-year contract.

I got a voice mail from Bob Miller at work! Advertising must come from past ticket purchases as well.

I received the email questionaire about the opening game and I filled it out. My main bitch was those drummers sucked hard and were very annoying.

They weren't there a couple of games later when I went but the last time I went they were...and they're still annoying.

I also complained that they changed the celebration song after a goal from "I love LA". I told them even though the Kings haven't had a tradition of winning, they don't need to change the other traditions.

Yo Anthony,

I'm sure you haven't heard that sound yet... you know the one when your head pops out of your...

Willsie is NOT on IR... at least not by any account on any website. He didn't play because of a sore back, but IR is a whole 'nuther can o' worms.

By the way, do your homework and eat your vegetables, and when bathing, wash behind your ears.

Purcell is included amongst the 12 healthy forwards.
Can you count.

that's my point. I don't think he was called up to insure against illness or injury to one of the other defensemen. I was suggesting that it may have simply been a paper transaction, the sort of thing GMs do for non-hockey related reasons. It doesn't really matter one way or the other, I just wondered if he in fact made the trip at all.

PuckHead27 said:

Marc Nathan is correct. This was basically an insurance move to have another defenseman available without exposing Klemm to waivers. Harrold is a rookie and would not need to pass through waivers to be brought up or sent down. The only thing is, I would have let the kid play against the Oilers, but I guess that was a coaches decision.

The good news is, we may not see Klemm again until after the trade deadline? OR bad news (depending on your point of view),if we do see him in LA again anytime soon, he may be staying?

I guess we can look at this in two ways.

1. Recall a rookie and don't take the risk exposing Klemm. Leave over half your fan base scratching their heads wondering Huh?

2. Take the chance recall Klemm, another team picks him up off waivers and have half your fan based PO'd because you lost him for nothing. Laugh if you want , but you know it would happen. Anthony would be complaining because that's his job.

Oh and Anthony, regarding DL not recalling a forward in the past...

Both Dallman and Klemm have and can be used a forwards. Which gives the Kings some versatility with their roster moves. Also as previously stated, Purcell was called up along with Harrold.

hahaha, i'm hoping that if i say Weekend at Bernier's enough it will stick. also i'm gonna stick with the name "KopiStar" for the next 7 to 8 years.

Cloutier will remain as "Cloutier" until further notice

This has nothing to do with the Kings, but please indulge me.

I was watching the FSN Ohio broadcast of Columbus @ Phoenix last night. First off, you guys HAVE to see this goal! It was the game winner with 22 seconds left, scored by Rick Nash:

http://www.nhl.tv/team/launch.htm?hlg=20072008,2,696&event=PHX709

Also, how do you know when your play by play guy isn't paying attention, or doesn't think anyone is watching? He makes calls like "There's Chimera on a breakaway....!!!" The "breakaway" was a 1 on 2 from the red line in, and Chimera was checked off the puck before he got to the faceoff dot. I was laughing for 10 minutes.

Would anyone here be PO'd if we got rid of dead weight taking up young slots in the minor league system? I for one thing there are a few players that can and should be cut to give more playing time to the youth movement...*cough* Cloutier *cough*
