Harrold and Purcell called up

Looks like Dean Lombardi decided it was finally time to give the young guys a try. Dean is on a plane to Edmonton, but I'll see if I can get a comment from him later in the day.

Teddy Purcell leads Manchester with 53 points and selected as a starter for the Canadian AHL All-Star team. Peter Harrold is first among AHL defensemen with 38 points and was named to the USA AHL All-Star team.

I'm so looking forward to watching Purcell on the ice.
Curious, whose place will Harrold take.

Now we get to see another glimpse of the future. Thank you DL for FINALLY doing what is right. Now, let's trade or release some more of the dead weight on this team, so it is more ready for next season, when things (hopefully) will be different!

Pretty funny that Purcell gets the call a day after Lombardi essentially says that the kid isn't really ready for the NHL yet, and that Hextall had been dispatched to New Hampshire to work with him on battling for loose pucks. Well, good for him, he must be a quick learner.

Now, as for Harrold... He played the most games in the NHL last year without recording a hit, so when does this creampuff get his first? I'll certainly be watching.

I saw the Monarchs game in Philly last night, and Purcell looked like a man among boys. Don't know if he's physically ready for NHL battles, but he's definitely got offensive game. Hope he gets some scoring line time...maybe replacing Nagy with Fro and Army.

I hate to be so cynical, but I'm a little irritated that they called these two up for a road trip that won't be televised.
