Jack Johnson follow
Most of you read the Jack Johnson story I posted yesterday from the Toronto Star on how he was going to meet with a 9-year-old kid from Toronto who plays youth hockey despite having cerebral palsy. Jack met the kid yesterday after the morning skate, talked to him and his father a bit and gave him a signed stick. Here's what Jack had to say about the experience ...
``I was just happy to try to put a smile on his face. He's playing at a high level, up a year, and it's remarkable for him to be doing that. I couldn’t be happier for him.
``I remember when I was little kid wearing someone else’s jersey and looking up to someone else. It's pretty special to see someone else doing that for me.''

Jill Painter joined the Daily News in 2000 and during the last eight years she's covered the Dodgers, Cal State Northridge, UCLA, Kings, golf and everything in between. Even though she's from Colorado, she still freezes in the Staples Center press box but always manages to thaw her fingers in time to make deadline. E-mail Jill at

JJ is a class act. And he's gonna be a dominating player for years to come.
He's an asset to this organization.
One of DL's few & rare bright spots.
Jack is a great kid and will be a great NHL player for years to come, hopefully in Kings purple.
Johnson has class. For that matter so do all the young guys. Make Brown the Captain and lets move on. Blake is old news and needs to go away and never return!
