Johnson makes YoungStars Game

| | Comments (14) |

Jack Johnson was named one of four defenseman for the Western Conference squad of the YoungStars Game. He'll have to exchange that plane ticket out to see his girlfriend in Minnesota and head out to Atlanta instead for All-Star Weekend. Patrick O'Sullivan did not make the team. He's probably not too torn up. His take on it yesterday seemed to be he was fine either way, he just wanted to find out so he could make plans. Sam Gagner of Edmonton, Patrick Kane of Chicago, Peter Mueller of Phoenix and David Perron of St. Louis were chosen as the forwards over O'Sullivan. Looks like they've changed the name of the event from YoungGuns to YoungStars. Must be some PC thing.

Nothing personal to JJ. I Love the guy. He's gonna be a superstar in this league, for sure.
But if I had to vote, it would go to Sully. I think he's been more productive this year. Offensively and Defensively. He's definetely having a better season than Gagner. He and Perron have already been scratched from games this season.
What a crock.

Actually it looks like all the players selected are rookies. So O'Sullivan was never eligible to participate since he was considered a rookie - last year.

O'Sullivan should have made it. Their loss.

O'Sullivan was a rookie last year, so he was not eligible for this year. Johnson is a Defensemen and Sully is a forward, so it is not one or the other, they play totally different positions. They are not in competition with each other.

Well I mean saying Sully should've made it over JJ is a little bit of apples to oranges since they were "competing" for spots at different positions. Just having guys on our squad be up for nominations whether it's the NHL all-star, Youngstars, and AHL makes me feel great about the forward curve on this team....

...now if they could only win...

Hooray for Center Ice, I can watch our two Monarchs play tonight

Are you joking me the only player on that list of players who made it over Osullivan that deserves it is Kane.

I thought a JJ is was a no brainer, he is known throughout the league and is known as on of the "upcoming stars." Sully should've made it but he's not really recognized or known throughout the league. Its fine with me. PLease Visit my website, press my ribbon for access, and Thank You. Kings win! The Anze-Sully-Brown line looked pretty freaking good.

Purcell also had several excellent shifts in minimal playing time. He looks very offensively ready for the NHL. He might need some work on his defensive coverage a la Sully a couple years ago.

Good win for the Kings and positive vibes going forward.

Maybe they changed the name to Young Stars to indicate who the Dallas Stars will deal away their top draft choices for in 15 years when these guys have played out their usefulness.
