Kings win 5-2

Not the best finish, but a win. The Kings have been outshot badly since the first period.

I'd still rather see them jump out to a big lead and sit on it, than play frantically in the 3rd period tring to come from behind. Good win.

When the Kings play teams from the other conference, there offense just explodes. Just look at the games against the Leafs, Boston Bruins & Buffalo Sabres. The Kings have scored a combined 19 Goals.
I believe that the East plays more of a run & gun Hockey style (which better suits the Kings playing style). Whlie the West plays more of a tight checking and physical game.
To bad we can't play more games against the East.
I think we're playing in the wrong conference.

This would make a good arguement for the reason why each team should play more games against other teams.

I heard they were altering the schedule to have more trans-conference games. Lets hope so.

I tend to agree with Anthony on this one. A lot of the Kings problems seem to be the tough West Coast teams. Too bad they don't play Eastern teams more often. Only clunker for tonights game is that the Leafs are a bad team and not one that wins often this season.

Before you guys anoint this win as the 2nd coming of 1993, it wasn't just that the Kings were outshot. They were SEVERLY outplayed after the 1st period.

In this case, the ONLY reason Toronto didn't come back and win was Jason LaBarbara.

Pretty good to go from the goat twice this week to the hero. It highlights his inconsistency and why he's always going to be a good backup but probably nothing more.

Then again, we probably all said that about Huet.....

If you guys remember, Marc Crawford's style of play has always been that run-and-gun style. When he was with the Canucks they had zero defense and were all offense. There is no way his style of hockey was going to be consistently successful in a tight checking conference.

While I enjoy the style, I would prefer to see somebody who coaches with a defensive mindset (a la Babcock or Lemaire or Hitch etc.) run this team. I think our quick offensive guys would do well in any format, and our defensive stats (5 on 5 GA and PK%) could take a huge improvement.

That said, firing Crawford now makes no difference. Let him finish this year and can his ass.

Not to knock Anthony, but I don't think the fact that they're Eastern teams has anything to do with their offensive output. Granted the East is known for a more offensive minded game, but in this case I think it is just coincidence. Timing and the quality of the Eastern teams they've played probably is a bigger factor.

Regarless, we won last night.

Nice post Paul. I agree with you completely except for one thing,I think they should fire Crawford now and bring in a defensive coach and see how the players react to that change. I know it is not going to happen though and can see DL actually bringing back Crawford atleast for the start on next season.DL has his own way of doing things and is
different than most GMS.
Crwford would have already
been fired by most teams.
