I had a feature today on Anze Kopitar and the reaction to his All-Star selection in his homeland.

Rich Hammond has covered the Kings, on a full-time or part-time basis, since the 2000-01 season. He was the beat writer for the entire John Torchetti era and has witnessed Bob Miller singing country music in a Nashville honky-tonk bar. A native of Los Angeles, Rich has worked at the Daily News since 1999 and also serves as the paper's deputy sports editor. E-mail Rich at rich.hammond@dailynews.com.
Jill Painter joined the Daily News in 2000 and during the last eight years she's covered the Dodgers, Cal State Northridge, UCLA, Kings, golf and everything in between. Even though she's from Colorado, she still freezes in the Staples Center press box but always manages to thaw her fingers in time to make deadline. E-mail Jill at jill.painter@dailynews.com.

Good article Matt. I hope Anze gets to display his skills today.
I wish everybody read your blog!
Thanks for the effort.
Very nice article Matt. Kopitar looked like he was really having fun this weekend and it made us Kings fans proud to see him there.
Great article Matt, keep up the great work.
If only his linemates could have finished some of the chances he set them up for he might have had a few pts.
Nice work Matt!
who were anzes linemates?
Was it just me, or did Kopitar try to flip the puck over the net onto Thomas's back and into the net in the third period?
He also almost won the game with about 1.5 minutes to go but his backhand missed.
Selanne is back guys, there goes the playoffs. Haha, just kidding the playoffs were out of the question after the 1st 10 games (Sarcasm)
Teddy Purcell had a hat trick on 4 shots with a +1 rating along with the game winning shootout goal all while capturing the 2008 AHL all-star MVP.
This kid was magic tonight. Hopefully he can keep the ball rolling as he joins the Kings in Philly for this 8 game road trip tomorrow.
Yet another diamond in the rough found by DL. :-)
