Stuart on trade rumors
Brad Stuart's name has been popping up in a lot of trade scenarios with the trade deadline a month away. Here's what he had to say about it ...
``I went through it last year. Any time you're an unrestricted free-agent-to-be, your name is going to pop up no matter your situation. I don't really worry about it too much at this point. Whatever is going to happen is going to happen.
``I like it here. It's a great place to play. It's tough when you don't win. That can make any situation miserable. But I don't think it's been miserable. It's just been a tough year. This is a great organization with fans that are looking for a winning team to really get behind. We just haven't been able to do that this year. But I like it here.
``Any time you get a chance to go to a good team and have a chance to win, that's good. You see it every year. I haven't really thought about that. I'm just kind of focused on what we need to do here to gather some wins. Anything else is out of my hands.''

Wonder what he was thinking while standing around, doing nothing and watching Johan Franzen camp in front of Labs and score a goal.
Overall, I believe he's an above average player. He has skill, he skates well, and has a strong shot. One of DL's better acquisition. But he's very inconsistent.
His Minus-15 leaves alot to be desired. I wouldn't mind seeing him stick around with the team. But I wouldn't sign him for more than 2 years. And let him earn the rest.
I would deal him and then throw a contract his way, maybe similar to the one he has now... Nothing longer than 2 years and nothing top dollar. He still has alot to prove and if he wants to stay in LA let him prove it by getting the team some picks/prospects and then resigning with the team in the offseason...
Performance this year aside, all I know is that Brad's comment is sorta what I wished Blake WOULD'VE said the other day. At least it's the right attitude.
All I want for Christmas is a second line center and a two defensemen. Hell I'm willing to stick with Barbs next year.
Can Brad Stuart give Rob Blake lessons on how to be CLASSY when addressing trade rumors?
Especially the "I'm just focused on trying to get some wins" rather than "Sure I'd like to play in Detroit"
rob blake take note.
here is an example of how you handle trade rumor questions from the media.
...even if you don't mean it, you are not a distraction to your team.
also, as a bonus, you don't enrage your already dwindling fan base when you answer in this manner.
bravo brad stuart... way to show some class.

I wish he'd stay. He's one of the few -if not only- D-men that we have that 'aint scared to shoot the puck. At the very least, get it in the front of the net.
mrk
At least Rob Blake responded after his comment with a couple of nice hits against the team he's supposedly expecting to go to. Too bad he almost took out Purcell in the process.
What else is he going to say? With his numbers it is amazing that there is
actually interest in him.
Kings need a couple of big
tough physical defensemen to make the team hard to pkay against. They are already soft enough without
Stuart. If another team is stupid enough to trade for this guy boot himout the door. Boston improved
dramatically just by not resigning him.

Stuart needs to go and fast, he has always been an offensive d man but he is useless in front of the net clearing people out. He's not large enough to win battles consistenly in the corners. He is what you call a fill in player until someone comes up better.
i think if i were to trade a D-man, it wouldn't be stuart. he does need to improve though...
Stuart has been crushing guys in the last few games I've found. I do like Maverick's idea of dealing him and then possibly picking him up again in the summer, provided the other d-man we sign is a friggin doozy. If theres one bullet we need to bite, I think its Preissing and Modry, but good luck with that one.
