He fits in as a Duck perfect. He wont take responsibility for his actions. Gotta love a Duck.

Buck said:

Wow. Little kids tend to blame everyone else for their own actions. Grow up little boy and take responsibility like a real man.

Mark said:

The Kings fan should start a "Guilty! Guilty!" chant every time Burtuzzi touches the puck when we play the ducks.

Nick G said:

I can't stand crow but this is just crap. I'm suing you because I broke a guys neck. Dumbass.

I'm Not Kidding said:

The Ducks should sue Bertuzzi for the terrible odor his play leaves on the ice every night.

JDM said:

"Pay the price" can take many forms... most players would interpret it as a clean but mean check. Crawford may not be a genius, as we'll all been privvy to watching, but I doubt he told Bertuzzi "You really should walk up to that guy like a street thug and punch him in the back of the head while he's not looking"

If there was any outside influence over Bertuzzi is was his mutton chops, which Crawford should file a countersuit against.

What he did was nothing short of assault with intent to injure. If someone did that to another person on the street he'd be in prison. The bastard ruined another man's career and his life yet the NHL allows him to reap huge rewards by continuing to let him play and make millions. The same goes for Danny Heatley. Drunk driving is a crime and those who commit the crime should do the time, especially when someone is injured or in his case killed. See how many everyday people have the luxury to do what these two guys did and still be out on the streets and make millions of dollars. It's a disgrace and Gary Bettman should be one of those held responsible.

Wow. Just wow. I'd be curious to read the lawsuit. One thing I don't understand is why they are seeking jurisdiction in Toronto and under what theory the courts there can exert jurisdiction. I can understand if Bertuzzi sought to join Crawford into the existing litigation, since he was referenced in it, or even sought indemnity to some degree. But I don't quite get this tactic. If anyone knows where I can find a copy of the complaint, please let me know! (dvlesq@aol.com)

JDM is absolutely right.

If Bertuzzi, whose short on marbles to begin with, believes he has any chance of winning this lawsiut, then he must be smoking crystal meth off a tin foil.

As an attorney, to prove negligence, certain elements such as duty, breach of duty, proximate cause, foreseeabilty, causation, and scope of ones actions must be met. These are difficult elements to prove since Bertuzzi's actions were more Intentional than Crawford's negligence.
His attorney must be missing a few marbles himself.

Don't worry Crawfish. I'm not a big fan of yours, but this case will probably be tossed out.

P.S. Instruct your attorney to file De Murer.

anthony said:

The case seems frivilous.
Crawford should also instruct his attorney to file a contercomplaint for abuse of process and ask for attorneys fees as well.

JD said:

Anthony,
I'm hardly shocked to find out you're a lawyer after reading your appeals to the Kings court all year. What kind of law do you practice?

anthony said:

I practice criminal law and some personal injury. Been practicing for almost 8 years. Very stressful field to be in.
Sometimes I begin to wonder how I manage to keep all my marbles.
Which would explain why I vent so much.

Vilela said:

Wow!
No sign of alcohol were found in Heatley at the time of the accident that killed Dan Snyder.
I think you mixed different things together.

BallPointHammer said:

Bertuzzi is a tubesteak. Whatever comes of this lawsuit, I hope Marc Crawford never backs down or gives an inch, or a dime, in defending himself. Make "Big Blurt" walk away from this with nothing but embarassment, shame and a big bill from his lawyers.

Bertuzzi sucks said:

ridiculous! I cant believe he's doint this. Be a man bertuzzi and take responsibility for your actions!! jack @$$!

Anonymous said:

My appologies. He wasn't charged with DWI, it was vehiclular manslaughter after smashing his Ferrari into a wall. My point is the same nothing more nothing less.

CHris said:

I think the bottom line consensus here is: Crawford didn't punch Moore. Bertuzzi did. Unless there was a secret second half to the Crow quote:

"Make him pay the price.... by sucker punching him and driving his face into the ice really hard and then landing on top of him so it hopefully breaks his neck and ends his career."

I don't think that was the case.

Todd Bertuzzi said:

"It is what it is."

Dan H. said:

I didn't have much respect for him but he lost all that I used to have twice over now. Somebody throw him a crying towel.

They probably filed there because that may be where the other suit is taking place...or he's a canadian citizen so they have an easier time getting his wages there.

John Roy Morgan said:

Some how I don't think Bertuzzi came up with this all by himself. Yes of course he had to agree to it with his Lawyer. Something to be said about people looking under slimy rocks looking for money or spreading blame... :-X

Naturallawyer said:

Heh, we have a lawyers on the board.

I'm guessing that the Nucks might have to foot the bill for Crawford's defense, too. At least, in California, and I'm sure in lots of employment agreements everywhere, there is an indemnity requirement for defense of actions within the scope of employment (including simple negligence). Is there a CBA for coaches?

If Crawford does get indemnity, it's even more reason to defend rather than settle.

I won't make it to the ducks game, but I would hope there are some very colorful posters and banners in the crowd to greet Bertuzzi. :-)

brian said:

So what is next, is Crawford going to sue the Canucks and the NHL for emotional distress if he wasn't doing his coaching duties. Todd, your poor judgement has defined your career and how strange is it that you've never been the same all-star player since? Also Todd, stop acting like Bert and Ernie, Disney or Henson or who the hell doesn't own the Ducks any Moore.

Enrico Pollazzo said:

His suit should also join all of us and John Does 1-1000000000 for failing to stop him.

Mark said:

I wonder if Bertuzzi is going to sue EA for making violent NHL games which caused him to react the way he did?

TSN said:

UPDATE:

Todd Bertuzzi to sue his wife. Apparently she denied him tang the night before and that lead to emotional distress and loss of focus which lead to him to confuse the meaning of "Pay the Price" to "Critically Injure."

Ed said:

By the same logic, Dan Heatley should sue Ferrari for manufacturing a car that can travel at excess of 200 miles per hour, but can't absorb a crash at that speed.

Total negligence on Ferreri's part.

Ed

Mark Crawford said:

I am innocent. As a communist style coach, the way we would make him pay is Moore would have disappeared into the night.

masterofmetal said:

King fans should sue Crawfish for team's bad
performance at home this year.
Anthony would you like to
take the case? You could sue him for giving Cammy
too much ice time this year
and for playing Cloutier.

anthony said:

Metalmaster,

Me take the case, LOL.
Not licensed to practice law in Colorado nor in Canada for that matter.

Sueing Crawfish for giving Lord Cammi too much ice time would be a slam dunk win in my books.

Moondoggie said:

Anonymous....dead right...Anthony, I'm genuinely impressed....

Anonymous said:

Ber-goon-zzi and Crawfish deserve each other.

metalmaster said:

Let's have Handzus, Calder
and Nagy sued as well for
impersonating NHL players.
We can also sue Crawfish for impersonating an NHL
coach. Since he is using the last 7 games of the
season was yesterday's
thumping a preview of what
is going to happen if he ever gets LA into the
playoffs? I guess after
missing postseason for 3
straight years pretending
is all he can do.
