Ellis on Kings

Again, this is from contributor Don Fulton.

While not exactly a reclamation project at the age of 26, forward Matt Ellis nonetheless feels rejuvenated since being claimed from Detroit on waivers on February 21st. The 6-0, 207-pound forward is getting serious ice time and has provided some added grit and toughness on the penalty kill.
And he's happy to be in Los Angeles.
"It has been a really nice change for me, coming into a locker room full of good character guys, guys with a lot of talent," Ellis said. "They have done a nice job of embracing me and making me feel like a part of things here this late in the season, and it's made the adjustment much easier. I'd been a part of the Red Wings' organization for six years, so really this is that first step outside of that comfort zone and for me it's been a nice change."
And what about the aforementioned grit and toughness?
"It's just something that I've always done," he said. "The way that I play the game I try to leave everything that I have on the ice night in and night out, and some nights will be better than others, but the effort level is going to be there every night."

Dumbardi explained that he was claimed off of waivers because of the enery he brings to a team.

I thought John Zeiker was supposed to fill that role.
Isn't that why Zeiler was signed to a 4 year, $2 million contract.

The John Zeiller contract was a joked. He's hardly skilled player.
I don't think Zeiler will ever see the inside of the Staples Center again (barring about 7 or 8 injuries). What a waste of money.

Isn't it strange that most of Dumbardi's transaactions or acquisitions have backfired in his face.

Ellis may say he's rejuvenated but I hardly think he really feels that way going from first to worst. Anything other than a great attitude is a terrible career move.

I like this guy, he's in the right place at the right time constantly, I think when the kings finally put some set lines together he will make a great 3rd liner and score some points. Great pick up by the Kings

I'm glad that he is getting ice time in Los Angeles. He played well for Detroit, but unfortunately they didn't have the room for him once some of their injured forwards were back in the lineup. He has such a great attitude and work ethic.
