Final...Avalanche 5, Kings 2

Andrew Brunette put one into an empty net with 49.2 seconds left to clinch the victory for Colorado. The Kings fell to 0-2-1 in their last three, and take a quick look at how they've come. In the first and third periods of those three games, the Kings have outscored their opponents by a combined margin of 8-4. In the second periods of those three games, the Kings have been outscored by a combined margin of 11-3. I usually don't put much stock in stats such as that, but it's more than a little curious, isn't it? Clearly, that's where tonight's game got away from them. Now, the Kings head to Minnesota for a game tomorrow.

I'll post any notes and quotes that I come across tonight.

In addition to horrible 2nd periods, the goals seems to come in bunches - within a couple of minutes of each other. After a goal you would thinks the guys would play a little stronger defensively.

I would like to thank that Avs fans for being the biggest asses in the NHL. Im sorry some one got hurt but JJ ding do shit, In fact you ever stop to think that maybe he was having a hard time with it cause he could have really hurt the guy? And for how ever i feel about blake it was a stand up move, what he did with Lappy that ass hat.

I agree. That was probably my favorite Rob Blake moment of this season. Now, if Jack hits somebody and they want to challenge him personally, I think Rob lets him go, but he was having no part of Jack fighting Lappy, a veteran pugilist looking to make an example. I think Rob sent a message to the entire Avalanche team right there to back off.

Maybe I missed it but when Lappy ran Frolov into the same board the Kings did NOTHING. When they elbowed Kopitar in the jaw, NOTHING. At least Blake stepped up for J.J. We absolutely need some toughness on this team to protect our young stars.

Yeah it looked like someone from the Avs bench stuck themselves out to hit Frolov as he went by on that play.

Rob Blake, I hold mixed feelings towards you, but at least tonight you showed you cared. I salute you for it. Please become the angry Blake from a month or two back again.

Now who's been saying Blake has no heart for the Kings and is only there for the money? I'm glad to see people recoganize when Blake does something positive and not the usual bitching about him.

One game does not make a season, especially at 6 mil. Blake has had maybe 15 good games out of 60 thats not leadership thats pathetic.

I don't think the Kings are going to be able to win any games with this group of defenseman.

anyone shocked by any classless ignorant Avalanche fans upset their spearing/intent-to-injure buddy boy Smyth got rocked by a CLEAN check should not be. the hit was not deliberate payback for injuring Labs, though there had been no repurcussions previously, deliberate or not.

I doubt an Avalanche fan can even remember Smyth injuring Labs, but Kings fans won't let it go anytime soon. causing an injury on a team's #1 goaltender is a huge no-no, even worse as an intentional spear.

anyone who's ever seen the Kings play in Vegas with Colorado as their opponent knows how obnoxious and clueless the Nordalanche and their fans can be. I think their deadline deals will also get them nowhere fast, so it's pretty humorous.
