March madness

In the spirit of March Madness, the Kings are launching the ``LA Kings Madness'', in which a bracket of 64 present and former Kings players will go head-to-head for the right to be crowned all-time fan favorite.
The following is the release from the Kings:

The Los Angeles Kings and LAKings.com today announced the launch of L.A. Kings Madness, a special hockey/Kings “tribute” to basketball’s March Madness that begins this Saturday.
64 current/former Kings have been selected and will be a part of the special bracket-style competition. Fans will have the opportunity on LAKings.com to VOTE in each head-to-head player match-up as the Kings look to determine the club’s all-time Fan Favorite.
The seeding of the 64 players is based off total games played with the Kings (including post-season contests), and the players will be placed into four different brackets of 16 (called the Purple, Gold, Silver and Black brackets). To view the brackets now, visit LAKings.com/madness. Also check out the site throughout the week for updates including special video previews of the tournament.
The players qualified if they met at least one of the following criteria:

-- Played in at least 450 games as a King (skater)

-- Played in at least 300 games as a King (goalie)

-- Led the team in scoring for an entire season at least once

-- Scored a playoff series-clinching goal

-- Was a Kings captain

-- Made the All Star team as a King

-- Earned the club’s “Most Popular Player” award

There are also some “Wild Card” entries that were selected by a special committee.

The Madness kicks off on Saturday, March 15, at 9 a.m., and the Kings’ tournament will coincide with the NCAA Men’s Basketball Tournament until the “Finals” of both competitions end on Monday, April 7.

interesting idea, although i hope it's less annoying and less biased than the "competitions" ESPN has been doing... "Who's Now," anyone?

if this were an office pool, i'd pick luc to win the whole shebang.
