Preissing sums it up

| | Comments (22) |

From contributor Don Fulton:

Defenseman Tom Preissing on his first season in Los Angeles:
"As a whole, I feel I've gotten better as a player this year," he said. "Still, my expectations coming into the year both as a player and team-wise have not been met. I am a lot more comfortable with the puck, and here they give you a little more freedom to make plays and that's an area where I feel I've gotten better."

umm yeah Tom, don't really agree. but at least he's still trying and believes he's improving and has a good attitude/work ethic.

it's too bad that goal was disallowed the other night though, which was really an awful call.

stupid Visnovsky....right through your stupid legs, get a new job, hockey just isn't your thing..

I can't believe Dumbardi signed him to a 5 year $25 million contract.
But then again he also signed McCaualey, Handzus, Nagy, Klemm, etc...

you guys really need to get off the Visnovsky train, because as hard as you've been riding him this season he really needs get a break. you don't go from All-Star to heir-apparent to Modry in a year and a half. pucks go in off defensemen skates. it happens to every player from Vis to Rob Blake and Nick Lidstrom and Scott Niedermayer. get over it.

that said, Jim Fox just admitted on tv-Kings Live that the Kings' the pecking order right now is LaBarbera, Ersberg, THEN Cloutier, and finally Bernier. nice.

Wow, you blame Visnovsky? Yeah, don't blame Harrold for the poor pass out of the zone, or Cloutier for the ridiculous amount of rebounds. Lets everybody blame every loss on Lubo, who seems to be the only d-man out there playing with any effort.

Goon Squad said:

I haven't watched the game yet so no comment on that, but overall I'm sure next season when Lubo starts looking like his old self, that's when they'll finally tell us what injury he's been playing through all year. And we'll say, "geez - when are these guys gonna learn that they do more harm than good when they play at 60%?

For a "shooting D-man he needs to learn to get it close to the net. Saturday he must have fired 10 times from the point, most shots had no chance of even getting near the goalie and most missed by a mile. I'm surprised Montreal just didn't pass to him, no chance he would score. Play D, let the forwards shoot. I bet his arms where tired from all the shots!
He didn't look much better tonight. Maybe next year he'll be better, like last year, 'cause this year he was off his game. But always has a smile and puck for kids during warm-ups, thanks for that!

Sloane said:

Hey great idea. Let's point fingers at Lubo. Because it's not as though EVERY SINGLE defenseman on the team has been taking significant heat for stretches of this season. Including Modry who played well.

Or that Blake, Lubo, Preissing, and Stuart all have had generally poor statistics this year.

Transition years.

With the exception of the goaltender, the Kings phoned this one in. I have never seen less passion on the ice than in this game, and Dan kept us in the game until the end. At leaast someone can clock Ohlund for the "chin music" he gave Kopie. Hats off to Dan for almost pulling this one off.

Yea, lets also knock Modry who was so bad another team wanted him.

I don't really like it when corproations own teams, they have better things to be worried about than the franchise they own. I just can't wait until the Kings are a winning franchise again. Its been far too long.

Tim said:

Nice work Don. Despite not being in playoff contention this is still an important stretch as the team lays a foundation for next year and hopefully learns to play team defense. Appreciate the continued coverage of the team.

Geeze anthony, every player goes through a bad period, What will you do when Kopi has a bad year? kick him to the curb too?

Lubo was and is an all star D-man, he's having a bad year, he's adjusting to playing on the opposite side of the ice, there's no support down low. Give him a break and let's revisit this when we get some new d-men that are strong on the puck, strong on the boards and have a great first pass out of the zone.

apparently Tito didn't understand my Modry reference. I was acknowledging him as everyone's favorite goat. I was not making a value judgement, which is another topic

For once you can't blame Cloutier for this game. The outlet pass on that goal that tied it...horrible! The deflection by Kesler, well that's a 50/50 although Blakey should have cleared his punk ass out from in front of Clouts. Another episode of the Kings watching other teams play with the puck. On the bright side Sully got his 19th of the season.

Kings will have 5 plus 20 goal scorers this season: Kopitar, Brown, O'Sullivan, Frolov and Cammy

Hipcheck said:

I see it as a goal that incapsulates our entire season. We were in position, had good players playing and got bad luck. With just a little luck our way you have to know that the AEG ownerships is going to give us a winner next year. All our young guys are back, handzus, kopi, brownie, nagy, willsie, Cammy. How can they be stopped? And with jmfj on board (did you see his mom say MF on tv last night, what a hoot!!!!) I see top 4 seeed EASY next year. WE have the league right where we want them and all I can say is STEMKOS for Kalder!!!! And Marc Crawford really has us playing well I mean we were toe to toe with Vancouver a very good team and we almost won! Another point in the bank, how can you not like that?

No, Anthony. The fact that we only had *6 SHOTS* in the first period, *6 SHOTS* in the second period, *6 SHOTS* in the thrid period, and NO SHOTS AT ALL in OT is what cost us the game. You can't win hockey games when you don't shoot the puck at the net. That and the fact that it is obvious that the rest of the team has no confidence that Danger Dan will stop the puck on a regular basis and play to protect the goal instead of playing their positions properly is what cost us the game.
