KINGS SIGN FORWARD BUD HOLLOWAY TO A MULTI-YEAR CONTRACT

KINGS' THIRD-ROUND CHOICE IN THE 2006 NHL ENTRY DRAFT AGREES TO A THREE-YEAR ENTRY-LEVEL CONTRACT

LOS ANGELES - The Los Angeles Kings have agreed to terms on a three-year entry-level contract with forward Bud Holloway, Kings President/General Manager Dean Lombardi announced today. Holloway was the club's third-round selection (86th overall) in the 2006 NHL Entry Draft. Per club policy, terms of the agreement were not announced.

Holloway, 20, recently finished his fourth full season with the Western Hockey League's Seattle Thunderbirds, recording 83 points (43-40=83) and 55 penalty minutes in 70 regular season games and 10 points (5-5=10) and four penalty minutes in 12 playoff games. His 43 goals were third in the WHL, while his 83 points were ninth in the league. He was tied for second in the league with nine game-winning goals and was tied for third with a plus-36 rating and four short-handed goals. Holloway was named the WHL Player of the Month for March after he posted 16 points (11-5=16) and a plus-9 rating in nine games.

The 6-1, 190-pound native of Wapella, Saskatchewan, has increased his goals, assists, points and plus-minus totals in each of his four full seasons in the WHL. In 2006-07, Holloway recorded 65 points (27-38=65) and was a plus-20 in 71 games. He had 34 points (21-13=34) in 2005-06 and 15 points (4-11=15) in 2004-05. Holloway began his WHL tenure with the Thunderbirds in 2003-04, recording zero points in two games.

Another Signing?
Isn't 50 the most you can sign.

Good depth guy, should help out Manchester next season and LA's bottom 6 in a little while. Similar to Matt Moulson.

Correct me if I am wrong, but doesnt this guy have a higher ceiling then Moulson?

I wonder how long it will be before people start calling him GrandMaster B!

Kevin,
Tough to say, Moulson put up a ppg at Manchester and filled in nicely in LA for a short stint. Hard to compare #'s since Moulson played college puck and Bud played juniors. It's hard to see Holloway playing top 6 at this level, but you could see him being a decent 3rd line wing(which Moulson could end up being).

Let's hope he plays well enough to make a roster one day first though. I see him on wing opposite Simmonds one day.

Interesting TK and Moulson's ceiling come up in same thread. People in Montreal have fallen in love with TK, didn't really get much of a role here. Everyone wants to give Purcell and Boyle top 2 line positions but Moulson put up similar numbers to those two in college and the AHL, actually more goals. His even strength goals per game are similar to what Kopitar and Brown had this year. His defensive game is strong. He's been a winner wherever he plays, his stats improve every year, and the players he plays with always seem to have career years. Showed some real chemistry and intelligence in the short time he played with Frolov. I think he's got a very high ceiling if he gets a shot.

Guys, Kings had to sign Holloway. If the Kings did not sign him by the 2008 NHL draft he would have gone back into the draft pool. Use it or loose it! Cheers

I also miss TK. He was the kind of player we could have used this year. A tough, rugged 3rd or 4th line winger. He would have looked a hell of a lot better in the lineup than Willsie.
